Lemonheads were fantastic at Somerset House the other week, absolutely loved it!

As for Incubus, yep I do like them. Seen them three times, twice at Reading and the last time they played was such a letdown.

'S.C.I.E.N.C.E.' is my personal favourite...a production masterclass that one. Such a cool album, it's a shame that they haven't come close to matching it since. 'Make Yourself' and 'Morning View' have some good tracks, but they just don't the energy and sheer excellent of 'S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'.

'A Crow Left Of The Murder' is alright, easily their weakest album for me, never gets going at all. Too boring.

'Fungus Amongus' has some cool tunes and is a nice precursor to 'S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'.

I didn't go to the somerset house Lemonheads gig but the No Looking Back show at Shepherd's Bush Empire (playing all of It's A Shame About Ray) was amazing. Got Evan's setlist afterwards too. Takes pride of place on my wall next to my Bob Mould setlist.

I'd just like to add my two penneths to this divine pearl jam w*nkathon. I went round my mates girlfriends house for a party, we all got stoned until the early hours and one of the lads there put ten on, I'd honestly never heard a single note by Pearl Jam before and was hooked, that was about two years ago. Listened to Ten non stop for about a year, since I got Leeds tickets I've gotten into the other albums as well, I don't think they have a bad album.

I'd say Black's my favourite. The last few lines are so moving:

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun, in somebody else's sky but why, why, why can't it be mine?"

If only Audioslave were still playing it would be even better.

Off-topic (for Pogal):

'Tis funny you should bring that moment up, and I missed this in the heat of the discussion the other day, but when I first heard 'Fix You' on the radio I groaned because Coldplay's record company had released another slow one as a single (), I was discussing it with a friend and she said it was about comforting someone who's family member has died. Hearing it again I started to slowly come around to it and when watching it at Glasto exactly that bit I think you're talking about and the accompanying lyric

'Tears stream down your face / when you lose something you cannot replace'

really got me. At that moment (and whenever I hear the song) I think about when my Grandad died, and I find that part of the song incredibly powerful. Therefore, to those who describe Coldplay as contrived I say 'Bollox!'. There was nothing contrived about the feeling I had at that moment and the means by which the band tapped into it for me.

On-topic:

Eddie Vedder's favourite colour (color) Smarties are: orange.

Exactly right - that bit was just so powerful it was unbelievable. I don't think I'd ever heard that song except maybe on the radio until Glastonbury and it really did blow me away.

A fantastic festival memory from a band I don't even like really - shows what good music (whoever it's by) can do.

Beware ye judges of music you think is uncool... As Gloria Estefan said, the rhythm IS gonna get you!

And Stone Gossard eats blue Smarties...

    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.
    • Wolf Alice - Newcastle on Blue Light Tickets
    • Having done all three, Porto is lovely, very chilled but nowhere near as exciting as Barcelona (nor as many options). Bilbao BBK has charm but again not a patch on Barcelona really.   ps and the beer was 5.50, not 5, last year 😉
