Wondering if their set may be a bit lacklustre like Kasabian last year.

Fab day today! A bit of Vanessa Carlton & Etta Marcus, The Coral (lovely set), Westside Cowboy (awesome!), most of Keo (not really my thing, but yeah I get it), Radio Free Alice (loved!), Kaisers (Kaisers!), and on the barrier for FBS (huge fun!).

 

As I feared, 5 types of IPA in the craft ale tent, almost everything else had actual fruit in it, and Madrid on draught at the back of the arena. Lovely grub from Oshpaz, my go to the last 3 years. The sun was out, the crowd was laid back. 7.5/10

Has anyone else found this year just meh? Not to be a kill joy as I’ve been every year and love the festival?

 

Tents personally need to be larger, can’t see any of the acts unless you’re 20 minutes early in the tents. Far too many kids around coming in and out of the crowd? People talking rather than listening to the acts and enjoying it? 
 

Miss the art of being able to come in and out of the festival, instead paying extortionate food prices.
 

May be me being grumpy, but hey ho, it’s been a tough year - roll on Wolf Alice. Will be back for TL27

Today was very meh, Courteeners Saturday always is for me 😂 And someone's been stretching the truth about them being the act Tramlines audiences want to see on repeat. Pic shows arena at start of their set 2-3 songs in.

 

I agree about the kids. They're like pack animals, go everywhere in groups of double figures, can't seem to stand still and watch the band for long and it seems more about hanging out than the music. Maybe we're just turning into grumpy oldies (speaking for myself at least). Yesterday I enjoyed a lot, but the site was too full, and I had to force my way into the Leadmill tent on a couple of occasions. Both times absolutely worth it - Westside Cowboy and Radio Free Alice. Looking forward to tomorrow for something different, in Tramlines terms anyway... a run of great, talented, fresh female led acts.

Having said meh, I caught some fun retro acts today... Sleeper, Inspirals, Rick Astley, Gabrielle, all very entertaining and some good tunes. Also loved Girl in the Year Above - hugely talented, and great performance too. They should go far!

The tunes after they had finished had the crowd bouncing more.

 

Really enjoyed the brilliant Blossoms who should have Headlined, The Guest List and The Slow Country who I will definitely try and see again.

reckon Wolf Alice's crowd will be even worse, based on the conversations I've had this weekend. Hoping they get the huge crowd they deserve. Very pleased they got the nod.

Not due on for 15 minutes, but Wolf Alice might be in contention for smallest Tramlines headline crowd I've seen.

Wolf Alice were bloody brilliant. Was quite busy I front of the sound desk, can’t really comment about how busy it was elsewhere.

They were ace! Really enjoyed Wet Leg too, plus Florence Road. Brooke Combe was superb too, incredible soul voice, but for some reason she was late on and they kept her to c. 15-20 mins. I'll be looking up all of these for indoor gigs over coming months.

Brooke Combe was late on because the T’Other Stage had sound issues and told her she could only do 4 songs. Awful really to do that, she was one of the best vocalists on the lineup. 
 

Seems like one of many cockups by Tramlines. Royston should’ve been on the main stage too.  I’m sure they’ll live and learn. At least we hope!

Your day was basically the same as mine!!

 

Wolf Alice were mind blowingly good - i saw them in december and they were amazing but this was somehow even better. Loved hearing visions of a life as it fits a headline set, and the LOUD encore of first album songs was amazing. And the new stuff sounded great too - i can't praise them enough.

 

I'm glad Royston were inside for the lights, the passion the crowd has for them always amazes me. I love Florence Road and was glad when Royston didn't clash with them in the end like the first lot of times I saw. 

 

All in all, very enjoyable  and I didn't realise quite how good Tramlines was as a festival. Not bad for a last minute decision, I only decided I was going yesterday when I was at sunshine underground

Looks like you were stood just behind us for this. I ended up missing the last few songs of their set (I wasn't that bothered as I'd seen them before and I thought he was a bit crap tbh) as my mother-in-law's partner collapsed right outside the medical area so was dealing with that.

 

Only did the Sat/Sun this year, particular highlights were Blossoms, Lottery Winners, Royston and The Enemy.

First time coming to Tramlines since 2019 and it's definitely got a lot bigger which is good to see!

 

Some great sets over the weekend - Wolf Alice, The Vaccines & Bleech 9:3 were some personal highlights but I have to agree with some of the more negative comments in the thread. There was far too many kids there and as a bloke in his 30's without children, I just don't understand why you'd bring loads of little kids to a festival (feel free to educate me on why though). Felt like I was at a nursery rather than a music festival at times! 

 

Felt like there was a lot of people there who just fancied a chat and a catch up with their mates rather than watching bands but what can you do? A decent weekend overall and i'd be very interested to see who gets booked for '27.

 

Also, how on earth are Blossoms not headlining this festival? I'm not even a fan but they've subbed three times now haven't they and they've just sold out the Co-Op Live. Madness!

One of my favourite tramlines weekends. Highlights were Westside Cowboy & Starsailor on Friday. Also really enjoyed FBS from the back of the field too. Blossoms were brilliant Saturday as always. Thought Courteeners were the best I’ve seen them at Tramlines even though the set was a bit heavy on the latest album for my taste. (Seen them about 25 times since they started) 

Thought Bleach 9:3 were excellent too yesterday. Wasn’t overly keen on the Wet Leg set, new album is really poor compared to the debut and thought it showed. And wow Wolf Alice. As good as anything I’ve seen at Tramlines and one of the best live performances I’ve seen.

I thought it was a great weekend overall. Wolf Alice, Girl in the Year Above, Westside Cowboy, Vaccines, Wet Leg, Kaiser Chiefs were all standouts this year.

 

Reverend and the Makers were a huge let down, I’ve enjoyed them in previous years but he’s starting to sound like a broken record. Spending two minutes between each song shouting “Sheffield”, “I wanna see your hands in the air”, or “everybody bounce”.
 

Maybe I’m being overly critical, compared to the new bands they had this year, the repeats in Courteeners and Reverend felt too much like their sets before. At least Blossoms had a good balance of great new songs with the hits.

 

I’ll be going again for tickets for next year. Hoping they have some new bands, LCD Soundsystem or Florence and the Machine would be phenomenal

Appreciate Rev was hampered by his broken ribs but yes it is the same show every year.  He seems to also have ideas of Headlining it !!

 

Blossoms despite being around for a few years are still one of the freshest, tightest bands and really deserved to headline instead of Courteeners.

At the risk of committing the cardinal sin of defending Courteeners on this forum, their set was nearly as balanced with new songs as Blossoms. Courteeners played 6 "new" songs (as in songs released since they last played Tramlines) out of 19; Blossoms played 6 "new" songs out of 14. Courteeners could have played 1-2 more, but I wouldn't say it's a huge difference.

That’s a fair point, I may have been too critical on Courteeners for that, it might be more enjoying the new Blossoms songs more made that seem a good balance

Good point in this instance.  I do think Blossoms are producing stuff slightly different but also as good as their older stuff that sit well side by side and getting them new fans, whereas the new stuff from Courteeners in no way competes with their older bangers.

Don’t underestimate the fan base Courteeners have in Sheffield too. Loads of merch sales and it sells out every time they play. That's probably the main reason that they keep booking them. Not many artists knocking about that can flog tickets in Sheffield like Courteeners do.

What a weekend !! The fancy bit was a game changer for our group, my wife has a long term health condition so she needs to sit down every once in a while and all the lasses in our group are short arses, so having the viewing platform especially during Fatboy was amazing, made such a difference to the weekend. And they did table service !! 

 

They def need another dance headliner for next year, Fatboy was such a great change of pace for the festival. 

 

Finally managed to bag accommodation for next year within walking distance of the site so that takes away the taxi nightmare

Think Prodigy might be an option for next year as done a few other Super Struct Festivals.
