Yeah Biffy are alright - I feel like I should like them more - I'm Scottish, I love Idlewild and Frightened Rabbit - but they don't give me the same feels.

Loved Biffy over the years and seen them many, many times. But just seem to me like their energy has gone, even if only by 10%, and their live performances these days are suffering from it. Their songs can still carry them through, but it’s all just lacking oomph.
I don’t blame them, they’ve had a long career and been on a crazy trajectory almost reaching ‘mega band’ status, but I think they will just fizzle out somewhat from here now.

I'd hope not. (Fizzle out, that is.)

 

But I get your comment re: live performances. It's why I was quietly delighted how much oomph they put into the Halifax show.

Of course, The 1975 subbed Biffy Clyro at TRNSMT 2017. These two go way back as a festival pairing, so it does make some sense sticking them together.

This Busta Rhymes set - I want to love it but it’s soooo choppy changey. Lot of stopping and starting right when they get a groove going. Lots of talk and less action, sadly. Maybe the energy in the crowd is different.
