Campervan Questions...

This year will be my first staying outside the fence and I need some advice from Campervans East veterans!

 

I've got a couple of friends coming who've not been at all before and I feel like they might need looking after. I read somewhere that I could put a tent up next to the van and get them to stay there rather than give them vague directions to Pennards and wish them luck - is that right? If so, how flexible is this? Would we be alright with a couple of tents next to the van?

 

Also, seeing as we're in and out through gate C all the time, are you literally stuffed if you manage to lose a pass out?

a couple of reasonable sized tents next to van will be fine. You might not have much space for an awning though. When they park you they will allow enough space for a decent awning on the side of a van. 
 

If you lose your passout tickets you aren’t screwed… but you should expect to spend time at the box office cabin on the hill by Gate C while they check your details and your wristband.   How much time depends how many people have lost their passout tickets 😂

Yes you can, work with the stewards when you park up to make sure they give you the space for a tent, they may not be so keen if you ask for two but we’ve never had an issue with space

dont forget the thumb screws and water torture when they attempt to ascertain if you are trustworthy when youve lost the pass out

My advice would be to take everything you need for both the day and evening with you and leave things in a lock up. There is one as you enter via Gate C and plenty of others scattered around the site. I also leave a pair of wellies there, but obviously it's not going to rain! It can take an hour to get on-site at busy times, exiting isn't usually as bad.

You'll get two small tents there I'd say, but no more than a 3 man (I.e. 2 man comfortable tent)...

This.. The stewards have always been very reasonable i have found.. just dont try and take the piss..

One of our crew lost his ticket many years ago and spent an age being grilled in the box office cabin.. Since then I have always made sure that we all have photos of 'All' of our tickets on our phones (whether that would help, i have no clue..)

 

Above all.. really try and get there as early as possible on Tuesday it is a great atmosphere and sitting on the hill with a beer on Tuesday night watching the festival preparing for you below is remarkable.. the anticipation is palpable.

This is exactly what we're doing then ideally my little sister reverses her motorhome in so we have a little doors facing inwards compound
