Headliners aside I think that is a very stacked lineup. Very very happy with the undercard.

Reckon we are still without a main sub? Architects and Bad Omens sub Trivium Cyprus Hill second stage?

I doubt you're getting any other second or subs. Bad Omens, Trivium, Architects, Electric Callboy, Halestorm, Cypress Hill or Pendulum will cover that. Main stage undercard on Friday and Saturday last year however was better for me but not much is ever going to beat Fridays run on paper ever.

I think we have one second stage headliner left to announce

I'm a fan. Only real shame is no Ghost. Also surprised by no Papa Roach (I'm aware of the RfP/Greenfield dates). I wonder if they're in line for Piece Hall or London park dates.

They were never going to be on it.

Surprised halestorm didn't weigh in for RIP, it's ran by the same promotional company that did their tour in Germany

Yup. Tom Morello being back again quick is a surprise. Drowning Pool really is the one that sticks out with Pendulum. But hopefully Pendulum aren't in a dead 3rd down slot again in the middle of daylight. Only 4/5 of the logo bands interest e so it's only going to be one day and there won't be enough to justify more. I'm hoping Pendulum are second stage headliner on Sunday, it doesn't clash anyway so it doesn't matter really about offering an option.

Day splits are really going to make or break that lineup. Linkin Park day will surely sell out regardless but the other two days are going to need to be carefully curated. GNR will probably sell out as it'll attract a hoarde of people who haven't seen them live recently but wouldn't go to their own gig due to Axl's vocal reputation. The Limp Bizkit day will be hardest to sell, I still reckon they had a bigger band booked and Limp Bizkit to sub but the biggeer band dropped out...

Feel like there’s not a lot of pop punk though. Defo missing a third stage headliner so I’ll hold out hope for The Story So Far!

Maybe they've decided to stop chasing the pop punk market as it's a minority of people who go to Download and there's so many other options nowadays for that market? Do Kerrang still curate Avalanche or has it gone back to the main bookers?

Unless Kam has said so I'm unsure where there is room for one. You've 9 bands that can comfortably take subs, 3rds and second stage headliners. Then you have 4 that would be 4th down/second stage headliners with two to go and considering Rise Against came later that's not a surprise. If you were correct, it wouldn't rule Manson out haha

To be honest I thought there would be more with the lack at Slam Dunk. But often Slam Dunk will get the best of what's around and Download pick up the rest.

Haven't Slam Dunk just announced  next years line up?

Edit: just looked, quite a lot of avalanchey bands playing Slam Dunk next year.

Counted 18 bands that I definitely want to see and imagine will be a fair few more after I’ve had a listen. Happy with that.

I've counted the exact same amount

There's some real gems in the bottom two sections I'm not sure I'll be seeing the main stage much lol

"Weak" headliners but absolutely stacked undercard. Missing bands like A Perfect Circle or Breaking Benjamin but they made it up.

I say weak because GNR are poor live and the new Linkin Park does nothing for me, but they're to stadium bands, so props on Download to get them.

It's one of those, you can't deny GNR and LP will shift tickets but they don't feel like very inspired bookings in comparison to the bands they've had in the past few years. As I said in an early post day splits are absolutely crucial here.

Download had LP this year as soon as they announced Wembley for this year. I don't think anyone bar one or two thought they wouldn't be there and suggested they may go to Reading instead. Bar LP, the headliners choice is certainly weak and poor for multiple reasons but the undercard has some decent gains.
