@Sziget2025_Leaks is it true that Shawn Mendes is out?

Funnily enough, as he was being rumoured for Sziget, I had a listen to his newest album over the weekend. It's actually pretty good but it's so stripped back and borderline acoustic in places that I could see a festival headline crowd grown very restless if he played a set that was heavily reliant on those songs.

He headlined corona capital a few days ago. I imagine it would be similar to this.

fontaines repeat?

They've got a show in Budapest in the summer already

Papa Roach sounds reasonable, they're a pretty big band in Hungary, playing in Germany in August (not sure if they'd fly back and forth during their German dates though... maybe a name for the last day?).

Blossoms are coming. Franz and Nothing might.

@Sziget2025_Leaks is Rick Astley coming with Blossoms?? For anyone who thinks that is strange, check out Glasto from 2 years ago. Rick + Blossoms killed it doing a set of Smiths tunes. A long shot, granted.

Also, Franz will be touring new music. Been a while since they were on the island, would love to see them.

I loved it there and I’d love it at Sziget, but sadly I doubt the usual visitor of Sziget would enjoy a set like that.

Agreed. It would be unlikely to book that set without booking Rick as well, like they did at Glasto. I don't see this happening even though he is a great party, but since Blossoms was announced, hey, why not check? If you don't ask, you don't get! ;))

Right. Also I’m totally ready to be proven wrong @Sziget2025_Leaks

They are a band that rarely plays festivals outside of the UK.

Its perhaps the reason why they tour so much, it's harder to be at a festival in the UK where they don't play. They go to earn there money on the UK scene.

I'd say its a big no.

Today's UK festival release around the time of Sziget - YNot Festival. Would love to see Prodigy at Sziget.

I'd love to see Prodigy, Franz Ferdinand, and TLDP from this list. Probably dates me a bit. With Sziget tilting more towards EDM, hard to know if the Prodigy is still a good fit or not. They have been here many times, but are they too extreme and/or legacy for the demographic today? I think this demo needs some "Firestarter"....

Down the rabbit hole in the Netherlands. Fire lineup once again. How about Franc Moody, do they appear as potential performers at Sziget? @Sziget2025_Leaks

Does them having a dj set this year rule them out for next year?

Would love Fender, Massive AttacK, FKA, Iggy, Patti, Amyl, Maribou State, Wet Leg etc.

One month before Sziget so lets hope some of those acts are still around 4/5 weeks later.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
