Oh yeah not saying there was none -  I helped clean one up that some c*****s had left in a sh*t state. -  Though with Oxfam if they can identify who you are if you left a mess they can chalk you of their list

Usually when theres a load of first timers you get sh*t left behind. Was the same in 2011/13.

Only way you could do it for general camping is by assigning pitches per ticket holder, which is never going to happen.

I guess the positive is a few people just cobbled together to sort it out, as opposed to just commenting it was left - so ultimately at the end of the fest. it was sorted and not left.

Anyone who has been to Shambala will know that place is the gold standard for this stuff - they nail it every year on the taking stuff home.

A few years ago one news website (possibly the Reach lot, so lots of websites I suppose. Although news might be stretching it a bit) had an overhead photo of the disgraceful scenes in one campsite well after most of the public would have left showing all the abandoned tents. Only it was the oxfield, late morning/early afternoon and everyone was packing away or in a few cases still actually working. We knew it was the oxfield as you could see me sat at my mate's campsite while they took stuff back to the cars

Friends of mine went to investigate a large, multi roomed abandoned tent. One of the rooms had been used as a toilet.

Litter picker/clean up there has to be the easiest job in festivals

What’s the difference ? Do they incentivise stuff ? Would it ever be scalable for Glastonbury ? Maybe an age thing but I think it’s a snowball thing like if you are only one of a few doing it then the embarrassment becomes too much

They do some sort of recycling bond thing, can’t remember the details. They have also banned people from taking “abandoned” stuff. Although there’s never any.

 

As stated above, the real difference (and this will annoy many, but is the truth) is an overall better class of punter.

Worked on the after festival clean up. My first time, so hard to gauge if this year was worse than others, although speaking to veteran workers, some areas were considerably bad this year. Bushy Ground especially had some terrible spots were groups had dumped everything and not bagged any rubbish at all. 

 

Basically, on the Monday evening, a load of scavengers come on to site and take the majority of the best tents and equipment left behind. By the time we start work on Tuesday, most of the largest bulk is either taken or cleared by a few of the scouting crew members.

I knew it would annoy people and I stress I’m not having a go at people on here and of course there are plenty of conscious people at Glastonbury. There are also plenty of people who don’t give a toss. We’ve been educated and encouraged for a very long time. Most campers will have an example nearby where people are cleaning up their mess and taking everything home. 
 

Sadly too many can’t be educated. You see this in the “outside” world again. Look at how much rubbish is lying in our hedges, look at our low rates of recycling. 
 

The bottom bit is completely true, a different class of punter is the main difference
