Going solo at the festival

CY 2019

Recommended Posts

I am going solo again this year, think it's my fifth time solo - as others have said the freedom you have to do your own thing and not worry about splitting groups or missing out on stuff you want to do can be great. But seeing people in groups or couples can make you wish you were with others, I have certainly felt this way before, but the joy of being on the farm soon takes over!

There is always someone around to have a chat to, even if it's just while you are taking the weight off your feet for a bit and I have certainly found it's the best way to fully explore the site. I have camped a couple of times with a group of solos and that was good fun - was especially welcome on Wednesday and Thursday. Last time I was working with Oxfam so there was a readymade group to hang out with, which was also good.

Main advice is, don't worry about being solo and don't worry about chatting to other wandering souls!

There is usually, but I'm not sure it's set up yet... (it might be, but I can't recall seeing it!).

i'll post the details when i've thought of them.

    • Sabrina I actually think is alright, but as an overall thing including Fontaines in the mix it does look very boring.
    • I went to the O2 show as had cheap NHS tickets. I did love the whole Machine Gun Kelly vs MGK Emo/Pop Punk stuff amusing and could see that show going down well. I thought it was so funny watching the video skits of a die hard old skool fan gradually morphing in to an Emo Kid. That show with less old Machine Gun Kelly tunes and more MGK Pop-Punk would be ace.   Pair him against a heavy act on the other stage and jobs a goodun,
    • Not sure if this is allowed, but I have an additional daily ticket which I’m willing to sell for a heavily reduced price. If you, or someone you know wants to go that day, but wouldn’t for the original price, let me know.    Edit: It’s for Friday
    • Couple of standing tickets left on ticketmaster if anyone is still trying
    • Choosing  I think boycotting a festival you would usually attend simply because you don't like one of the acts is pretty petulant to be honest, just go and watch a different stage. There are plenty of the usual slam dunk attendees who would be into him, as well as attracting new festivalgoers too.
