A discussion was being had and you got involved as per and were wrong as per. Instead of admitting that or better yet just keeping your beak out , you have a tantrum as usual.

You're ignoring the bits where £3k invested 20 years ago is worth about £500 now.thats a real life example with the proof on my desk.

Ouch, certainly shows investments can go down as well as up. All depends on where it is invested of course.

As I said earlier it’s probably best for any important financial advise to go an IFA rather than anyone on here as you just don’t know people’s credentials (or lack there of).

Hahaha wait you did that? Christ no wonder you’re bitter.

Obviously you’re never guaranteed returns in the stock market but a good index fund is hugely likely to make good returns over 2 decades.

It's a small stock market tracker where fees ate into it. For some people gambling with other people's money is a guaranteed win.

These are just your bad choices though. Investing in a basic global index fund over the same period would have returned tens of thousands.

you never needed a financial adviser to invest 3k. just cause you made an error doesn't somehow make the stock market a bad thing to invest in

Christ, some people here need to understand the definition of financial advice a bit more. Fray, correctly, pointing out that SIPPs are one of (if not the most) tax-efficient methods of saving is not financial advice. 

Financial advice is having the facts of someone's financial situation and advising them on what they should do with those finances.
