U.S. Presidential Election

Walz vs. Vance gonna be interesting. Vance is just as evil but doesn’t have mush for brains like Trump and Walz almost seems too nice that I can’t imagine him in a heated debate scenario. No doubt Vance will bring up the stolen valour stuff which will be a moment. They’re also apparently not getting live fact checked like the last one so plenty of opportunities for Vance to just outright lie as I’m sure he will.

It was a good debate with a completely different feel. Vance is a good speaker whether he's telling the truth or not and it makes a welcome change from listening to trumps inchoherent rambling. Strong finish by Waltz flat out asking Vance if Trump lost the last election which understandably he couldn't answer.

It was actually good to see a some respect given to each other after the hate and vitriol that has become the norm these days.

Haven’t seen it all but seems to be the general consensus. Vance a more skilled debater but lied a fair bit, whereas Walz stumbled over himself a bit but generally more honest with his answers.

If anything it just seemed to show how boring these things are without a maniac on one side blurting out utter nonsense.

That's probably not far off. If I was to pick a winner I would say Vance possibly edged it by the slightest of whiskers but that is because he is a very polished speaker. I would imagine both parties will come away very happy though and I doubt it will move the needle from where it currently is. Waltz was talking very fast at the start and was clearly nervous in the early stages but settled into it as the night went on. He was clearly rattled when questioned on when he was in Hong Kong (he has stated that he was there at time of the Tiananmen Square protests but it turned out he wasn't) but he spoke well on abortion and healthcare issues and held his own on immigration and economy. To be honest it was a very civil debate for the most part. Vance came across well and I can see him running for the top job at some stage. Waltz just comes across as a genuine guy who cares.

At this stage I think it would be better for everybody if they had him committed after he loses.

I guarantee if Kamala wins, once the inauguration is all done and dusted and there’s no more chances of Republicans trying to f**k the results they’ll all start dropping any whiff of Trump rapidly and try and wash their hands of him, and if bringing his mental capacity in to play is what needs to be done then I’m sure they’ll go there.

Yeah I've been saying this for a while now. The GOP is going to drop trump like a hot stone. I still wouldn't put it past his ego to run as an independent in 4 years if he can still stand up but hopefully if he loses this one he's finished and will be able to concentrate on trying to stay out of jail.

Just seen the clip of Walz saying he’s befriended school shooters (when he presumably meant to say the victims) 😬 Whoops, pretty big gaff.

He actually said this twice. Trump picked up on it but it doesn't seem to be a major talking point on twitter. I thought that would be the thing that was seized on.

October surprises. Maybe God is with Trump.

Nah, just means she’s gonna be entering office in the midst of a shitshow, but when isn’t America (or the world) in the midst of a shitshow these days?! Really don’t see these kind of issues moving the needle much at this late stage.

    • Hi Everyone!   I need your help. I'm trying work out who was playing at The Wishing Well at 3am on the Monday morning at the 2025 festival - this was once the official setlist had ended. The music was down tempo, bass heavy, kept evolving, just mesmerising. Anyone have any ideas? and/or was there as well?

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
