Bloodstock 2020

Vicky who books the bands for Bloodstock was backstage with Killswitch Engage last night so I think that’s one of the remaining headliners. What an excellent, overdue booking. I went to see them last night myself and they are on unstoppable form right now and the new songs sound just as massive as the classics.

Some might grumble that they aren’t big enough but they are, really. Brixton is sold out tonight, Birmingham last night was sold out. They’re big enough to headline a festival Bloodstock’s size, especially when they fit their demographic perfectly.

Priest not a UK exclusive basically confirms they will be at download for me

Behemoth are UK exclusive but I really don't like them.

Completely forgot about the Anselmo stuff

I don’t think there’s any real chance that Priest play Download too.

they don't usually share bands, do they?

Not usually but the twitter announcement highlighted Behemoth as a UK festival exclusive but said nothing about Priest. Not sure where else Priest would turn up other than download

I'm not sure how serious the person was, but I've seen Priest suggested as the band for Glasto's 'rock slot'.

I guess that would make a fair bit of sense as they both share a 50th birthday.

How realistic is it that they'd headline Other on the Sunday?

Devin Townsend / Skindred / Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals / Dark Tranquility / Sacred Reich

Behemoth / Opeth / Paradise Lost / Vio-lence / Jinjer

Judas Priest / Dimmu Borgir / Gloryhammer / The Black Dahlia Murder / Life of Agony

I think that’s looks pretty damn excellent. I’ve added in Opeth and Dimmu who I think could sub. I’m half expecting Mayhem to play somewhere, too.

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
