An interesting bit on what comes next for Labour. Arguably this will influence even more than the general election itself - this is already a foregone conclusion. What happens with Labour next will have a massive impact not just for those who might vote Labour in the future but for British politics in general.

At the time David Miliband would have been too much like Blair for my tastes so soon after the 2010 defeat. For all the times Corbyn supporters hugely overuse the word it's fair to say David Miliband is a Blairite.

However it's difficult to argue against the point that had he won that leadership contest, it would have been massively for the best. David would arguably have forced a hung Parliament at the very least which may well have blocked the passage of the EU referendum bill through Parliament, even if Cameron stayed PM.

If Labour elect someone from the Corbynite faction this could well lead to terminal decline. Any association with Corbyn will be considered toxic. It will be seized upon by the Tories and used against Labour continually.

If Labour elect a Cooper, Starmer or Jarvis they could find themselves fairly quickly surging in the polls. This would have a big impact in turn on what the Tories do - they will act very differently if they feel unchallenged to if they feel Labour have a chance at removing their majority in 2022.

Very interesting how the better Labour do, the less chance Corbyn has of one of his lot succeeding him. I guess it makes sense those who actually care the most about Labour doing badly are in the swing seats. The likes of McDonnell and Abbot know they have a job for life whatever happens.

oh look, zahidf's made it up again.

It's absolutely fuck all to do with that.

They're saying that an attack on a white by a black is always hate crime, in the same way that they want to falsely suggest that all crimes by a white on a black are treated as hate crimes.

But hey, there's stupid in UKIP and out of UKIP.

We don't end humanity's stupidity by starting a race of stupidity to the bottom of stupidity. ;)

they specifically say rape.  they are emphasising the sexual aspect

I saw this idea pointed out last week, and it wasn't one that had occurred to me before then.

It's changed my thinking, tho it's still not made me decide to definitely vote Labour (tho i'm in the lucky situation in my constituency where the tories or UKIP have no chance at all).
