Camping with friends in campervan field

Sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't seem to find it. I have two friends who are arriving the same time as me (but separately) on Wednesday evening to the campervan field. I have a 2 man tent and was wondering if its possible to pitch up next to their campervan, even if I don't have a campervan ticket? My friends will also have a small awning up next to their van. Also, if we arrive in the eastern parking spaces, how do-able is it to get to the Eastern CV field on foot + camping gear/supplies? Thanks.

It's fine to have a tent next to a campervan as long as it fits within the space allotted. You'll need to arrive at the festival the usual way, and walk to their campervan with your kit - obviously this means you'll need to wait for them to arrive so you know where they're pitched. It might be worth meeting up somewhere offsite and driving in convoy so at least you're arriving a vaguely the same time - and maybe they could take your kit in their van so all you have to carry with you from your car is yourself, as it could be a fairly long walk.

You'll then get your wristband etc. in the usual way when you first go through the pedestrian gate - remember if you're in the campervan field you'll need to get a pass out every time you leave and are likely to be searched each time you return.

Great stuff, thanks for the reply and suggestions. It sounds very do-able then! Out of interest, why do security search on return only in the CV field?

As in, searching when you go back in to the festival, not leaving the festival to go back to the CV!

Do you mean searches only on those coming back into the festival from the CV fields? If so, then it's a random selection of people coming in who are searched, from bag searches to full on searches. I've never been searched in 5 years. That'll be me, then, every morning now.

The walk is manageable to the motorhomes, but I'd suggest you get your mates to bring your stuff down to save you carrying it up to them.

...and take really good care of your ticket beatboy1 as you will need to show it at Gate C all the time!!!! X

And there's a pass out ticket you're given each time you exit the festival to the CV fields - keep this safe too, as you hand it back in when you go back in, and repeat on the next exit etc.

My friends will be in the camper van field from opening time on Tuesday. Once I have arrived on site and parked my car later that evening I hope to be able to walk across and join them and sleep next to their van overnight. Is this allowed?

The morning after I'll queue as normal and pitch up on site.

You could certainly sleep next to the campervan on Tuesday night and then enter Gate C (presume it is East) as normal when it opens on Wed morning but not sure how you would park your car and get through to the van field. Hope someone has an idea for you!

Is there a lock-up close to the entry to the festival from the campervan field? I'm thinking that could be a good place to store jumpers, beers and other stuff to save us from going back to the CV field in the day and also to avoid the searches on entry

The lockup is inside Gate C, after the queues and inspections from the CV fields.

    • This!   Biffy Clyro I don't think would ever get asked, I just don't think it us their scene and it certainly wouldn't be a wise move for them after how the Finsbury Park show went. If they ever had a chance of regaining or staying a bit higher up taking Slam Dunk isn't how you do it. For the cost of it now I think being into the main headliner does make a difference though.
    • Sabrina I actually think is alright, but as an overall thing including Fontaines in the mix it does look very boring.
    • I went to the O2 show as had cheap NHS tickets. I did love the whole Machine Gun Kelly vs MGK Emo/Pop Punk stuff amusing and could see that show going down well. I thought it was so funny watching the video skits of a die hard old skool fan gradually morphing in to an Emo Kid. That show with less old Machine Gun Kelly tunes and more MGK Pop-Punk would be ace.   Pair him against a heavy act on the other stage and jobs a goodun,
    • Not sure if this is allowed, but I have an additional daily ticket which I’m willing to sell for a heavily reduced price. If you, or someone you know wants to go that day, but wouldn’t for the original price, let me know.    Edit: It’s for Friday
    • Couple of standing tickets left on ticketmaster if anyone is still trying
