Way back you used to see folks walking into Pilton to go to the village shop or hitch a lift to the next town for supplies.

Sadly Pilton  have no shop anymore after Tescos opened up in Shepton. We also don't have a pub at the moment but apparently a tenant is being sorted this month. Thankfully we have a working man's club to keep us sane

Awww that is a shame,  it was clearly a  life saver at times.

Rural areas can be difficult these days with no local amenities if  you can't drive :-(

Love your strapline under your name!!

So, will there be a pub by the end of May when my daughter gets there to work or will it only be the working man's club (which I assume you don't have to be a working man to use?).

Is she working at the festival and staying in the village?

If she was already on site there would be a great choice of bars and that may make the trek back to the village easier (or harder!)

They are hoping to have a landlord in by end of may.

I use the wmc so no the name does not imply the rule. Great place to see bands

No she's staying on site but is one of the first there so I imagine will be there before all the bars!  I think last year they walked to the village a few times but I don't know whether that was to the pub or WMC.

I messaged the very wise @glasto-worker who said "some bars will be open from Wednesday morning { but some don't open until the Thursday } - I know the Bread and Roses { between the pyramid and the other stage } will for sure be open { as it starts on the Sunday for the workers } - if you are after buying cans then really Shepton Mallet is the best place. There is a garage near that sells cans but never paid attention to the name of the road and its tricky to reach. "

what role takes her there so early? - and can i do it next year :D

She's doing staff catering for the teams who set up.  The earliest ones start then and then progressively more start nearer the time.  And yeah go for it if you can spare the time - she's there for a total of 7 weeks, living in a tent the whole time.  She just applied online in about January I think.  This is her second year and she's worked in cafes and bars before so had a bit of experience.  She was a bit wary about the prospect last year but absolutely loved it.  But you have to work through the festival - 8 hour shifts so still time to enjoy some of it.

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
