Are you noticing a change in shape though? last year when i was doing longer distance running, I was really frustrated that i wasn't losing any weight... but others could definitely see a difference in my physique.

Yes - jeans & shirts looser, although ample midriff is holding on for dear life.

Consoling myself with the fact I lost 7lb in the final 3 weeks leading up to Glastonbury last year so all is not lost yet.

I need to get hold of my weekends as well, hope you get the results you want too!

Even if you don't the looser clothes suggest you are in better shape. All the exercise will only add to any reduction in the scary risk factors the news is always banging on about. The weight loss will come in time.....although my fingers are crossed for you that the time is by the 22nd June :)

I joined slimming world 4 weeks ago, lost 6.5lb so far. Totally gutted I missed my 1/2 stone certificate by 1/2lb at weigh in last night! I really wanted to lose a stone before Glastonbury, but for the last 2 weeks, despite trying really hard, I have only lost 1lb a week. I think it has something to do with the bottle of wine I accidently drank on Sunday night!

4 weeks to lose another 8lb?? I will give it a go....

I have the same time to lose 8lb lost 14 so far 8 more to my goal can't see it happening but we can try! good luck.

I am also amazed how you are not tiny.... that is some schedule

i'm losing weight , just two lb a week , which is ok!. the wife says she can see a difference, i just see a little pot belly. I have been rnning for almost ten years now. So I have read that when your body gets used to running you don;t burn as many calories as if you were just starting off

I struggle to notice changes in the mirror - belly is still there as far as I'm concerned. I'm not overly self conscious but I think my mind just hasn't caught up yet. My measurements and photos are the only things that convince me there has been any change.

Also, running for the bus is significantly easier - I very much hope this will translate to an easier festival physically than last year

My new phone calculates my steps so I am tempted to keep it on as much as possible and just delete all non essential apps. I won't use a fitbit again so I'm reluctant to splash out on one

just looked at my fitbit stats from last year... think there might be a dancing effect in there cos they look a tad ridiculous:

yes dancing would count as a lot of steps, but technically it is . you climbed a shit load of stairs how many times did you go up the tower?

Theses peeps doing 13 miles a day !!

I measured where I went on GIS at work and alos remeasured on google-maps last month and did 5-6 miles a day. So either they are walking twice+ as much as me or the dancing/jigging/moshing boosts the figures a lot.

* GIS - Geographical Information Systems - mapping software   to the 99.9% who have no idea what it is :)

A bit long. There is a point.

I found out a couple of months ago that the only way I was getting to Glastonbury this year was by public transport. That was the kick up the arse I needed to start seriously getting off my arse and getting said arse together. You can't take things in bit by bit if you travel solo by train and/or coach.

I'd say about 16 years ago I was fitter than I'd ever been. I worked lugging supermarket delivery crates about and then offloading whole cases of stuff up ladders and onto shelves for 12 hours at a time. It was proper circuit training like and I had forearms like Popeye. Then I went down with appendicitis/peritonitis. I mean proper slugged in the jaw went down. Never got that fit again. Never been as unfit as I am at the moment to cut a 16 yo long story short.

So, a few weeks ago a colleague pointed me in the direction of the NHS Couch to 5k program. I felt too unfit to do the whole 8*1 minute runs they recommend for week 1 so I was building up to it.

Then I got proper ill. Something I ate I think but I was proper needing the loo every hour and couldn't keep anything down for the best part of a week. Honestly, every single time I decide to take getting fit seriously I go down with something. It's like I'm cursed.

Anyway, felt better, went for a "run" and did my first proper full week 1 day. That was a right confidence builder. I was determined to keep it up. Then I had another day of being ill. That was meant to be a run day. Wednesday.

And here I am, having been to work today, just got home and determined to do another week 1 tomorrow (well, today technically, it's not tomorrow 'till I've slept afaic).

I am well behind my intended schedule. My shifts make doing the "every other day" thing extremely difficult, though I think I have just about worked out a way to do it without having to be running around town after work at 2am.

I've also got a couple of 4.5kg dumbbells that I am doing a couple of exercises with. Sticking them on my shoulders and seeing how many times I can crouch down and stand back up again seems like a good rucksack practice exercise to me.

Funny thing is, it turns out that I might not have to be as fit as I thought. I thought the coach pick up point was a good underground stop and long walk through London from the train station. Turns out that it's only a walk, and as someone elsewhere pointed out I could borrow a station trolley.

I'm still going for it though.

I really need to stop smoking.

Tl;dr: Thought I needed to get really fit for Glasto. Turns out I maybe didn't. Still determined to get fit.

I have lost close to 2 stone in the last 2 months! I got a job as a diabetes specialist nurse and it really kicked my arse in terms of thinking about my weight/health

I have a friend who's a doctor (F2) and she's had a rotation on a ward where basically they try to prevent having to amputate legs. It's apparently half heroin addicts  and half obese diabetics. Terrifying!
