GLASTONBURY DISSERTATION QUESTIONNAIRE - help really appreciated!

Hi everyone!

I'm in my final year of University and have to create a questionnaire for my dissertation about Glastonbury!

I would really appreciate it if any of you could possibly complete it? It would help me enormously!

Thank you so much!

:)

I've completed the survey honestly for you, but fear that it will not help you enormously (as you state in your initial post). The reason for this is that even I can see that very little thought has gone in to the survey, so would expect an examiner to see that too. As ever, my advice would be to have a smoke and come up with a much more mind bending survey. The examiner will like you for it.

Done.  One question that tends not to get explored is the conflict between encouraging people to travel by public transport and not leaving any waste behind.  If you are going home on the train it's less of an incentive to take a broken, muddy tent home for repair, whereas it's easier to put it in the back of a car.

Nice one sime. Personally I think it's a runner - if you'll excuse the expression.

Thanks Yoghurt :) Ran out of up votes...! So, lol...!

Why? Either way you have to pack it up in its tent bag so it makes no difference. Its lazy leaving it behind either way. Worse case, pack up the broken tent and leave it in/next to a bin. There are no excuses imo to leave stuff behind.

I thought maybe Yog was being a bit harsh til I took your survey but he speaks the truth.  I'm sorry. :(

Please give your survey a look over before you get in too deep and can't change it.

I really was trying to be helpful. The best that that survey and subsequent dissertation will get is a 2.2  Although I would actually run with the Bristol Stool Chart thing myself (just for the craic) the main purpose of it was to show that if you want to get a 1st then you've got to come up with something out of the ordinary. These examiners must be bored fucking senseless by reading the dissertations based on surveys like GemDaisy's. I repeat, I'm only trying to help you GemDaisy, so don't take any of my irreverance to heart. It's just my way of getting things across I guess.

You don't know that. The quality of the questions actually meant nearly jack shit on my degree. It was all about following the process. Academia is nothing like the real world in that useless data doesn't ruin the whole thing since it's not about the conclusions, it's just about each step in the process - and the questions on a survey are just a tiny part of a tiny part of the process.

In fact, I've known people do shit surveys and walk away with a first for pointing out how shit their survey was in the analysis.

Besides, it's far from the worst survey posted on here in the last month, I think that was a little harsh, old stick.

Hello stuartbert. I will gladly suck up type 7 shit from someone else's arse with my own mouth if that survey isn't careering towards a 2.2 catastrophically. I hear what you are saying but don't agree - at all. That is unless it is actually true that they are giving out firsts like confetti nowadays like the newspapers would have you believe.

I know where you are coming from in stating my comments were harsh, but believe me, my intentions are honourable. I'd like the young lady to do better than what I think she is actually going to achieve with the data from that survey.

I agree absolutely that nothing should left behind. My point is that if you have a car you are more likely to pack up a broken tent and take it home for repair. If you have come by public transport you are more likely to simply abandon the broken tent on site and just leave it for landfill.  So encouraging people to come by transport (seemingly green) may result in more waste (not green).

But that's the point, she's not going to achieve anything with that data, you're not actually supposed to on an undergraduate project. You just have to make an attempt to collect it. It's the rest of the dissertation that makes the difference. You really can't project from it.

Hello again stuartbert. In your heart of hearts do you honestly think GemDaisy is going to extrapolate whatever data she gets from this survey in to something that's going to result in better than a 2.2? I admire your defence of her, but only because I was possibly a bit too harsh in my responses. In my defence I will say that I wasn't trying to be mean at all (as in no way). I was just trying to verbally shake someone in to thinking a bit more about what they are doing. The survey is half arsed and so will the conclusions be from it. I'd rather she do well in life now than learn the hard way by not getting a recognised education - as has been the case for me for many a year.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
