NYC Dowlow

thought the venue should have its own thread.  (Edit: apologies, what a dick i am not spelling it correctly in the thread title!!!..oh well...NYC Downlow people...forgive me...I did buy a t-0shirt and some badges)

I take my hat off to all those involved, the djs, performers behind the NYC Downlow, fantastic job , the music, atmosphere in the place is terrific, definitely one of the best venues in Glastonbury in my opinion.

on my previous visit to glastonbury I never made it inside, the queues always seemed too big, and on my first visit I wanted to zoom around an try and see as much as possible, so on this second trip I had much more time to give to this place.

im a big fan of the horse meat disco guys (I love classic disco / house), seen them dj at various places in Scotland / uk, and have been down to the eagle in london to check them out on home turf as well, but the production / showmanship really come across in the downlow...my thought was ...how can anyone not be smiling or having a fucking great time in that place, tremendous disco / house music, and onstage performances...unreal!.

I was in on the sunday morning whilst dungeon meat were on, stayed til it finished, and was in again on the Monday morning  (with the aid of my moustache to get quick access) joe claussell then luke howard from HMD...excellent sets, and on the Monday morning, they mustve had about 20 dancers onstage and were really going for it for the closing.

kudos to the NYC Downlow team for creating the place, and making it the all out (disco) party venue it is.

YES!

My main aim this year was to see more of the nightlife side of the festival and less of the Pyramid. I wasn't disappointed. Friday night in Downlow was one of the highlights of the weekend...though that may have something to do with the beautiful man I spent all night dancing with.

Made it into NYC Downlow for the first time this year on the last night... got dragged out of the queue by someone I'm 80% sure was a woman... given a massive kiss, a slap on the bum and sent in for free... great way to round off the weekend :D

The music/shows were a really nice break from all the heavy dance in the SE corner too!

Didn't bother this year. Last year was a joke - ridiculously disorganised queue, better entertainment on the outside than in, and an interior that resembled the shittest inner city club imaginable. I've not written it off, but my god, last year was terrible. I didn't bother with anything in Block 9 this year.

I went early on the friday night, with the intention of spending an hour in there before catching some other stuff, next thing i knew it was 530am! brilliant venue yet again, i dont think there has been a year that i havent ended up losing a night of my festival in there, love the old house tunes etc, reminds me of a club called the love boutique that used to be in glasgow, now its only once i year i do the al night dancing thing and its at Glasto. i was dressed up for a night out and i got it, the downlow is one of Glastos great venues :)

the £2 'entrance' fee to the downlow gets you a moustache, with the money going to various charities.

moustache works the entire time of the festival and gets you speedy access / different queue.

my wait time, sunday morning, the queue looked massive,4am but I wasn't too fussed on four tet on genosys (sound was poor anyway) so 4 of us waited, queue actually went very quick and we were in within 25mins, couple of our crowd came in around 5am, they never waited in queue long either...downlow was on til 6.

Monday morning, with the aid of my moustache I basically walked in through the separate queue (this was around 3ish, downlow was on til 5.

definitely worth the wait / I'd suggest checking it out on your next visit.

the dungeon meat promo cd I got inside is also not bad , listened too it a few times since got home.
