First post on here so go easy ;). I'm personally very happy with the headliners as I'm a huge fan of Biffy and FOB and am yet to see them live. I'm excited for Foals after their secret set last year and they deserve this opportunity. I hope they play first at Reading however as the atmosphere would be great as the sun sets and means I can skip Disclosure who I don't have an interest in.

I feel that with their new album they are probably better suited to the darkness. what went down has primal feel to it in the dark. also they put on an amazing light show. I agree that the headliners are strong though, at least the ones closing at reading.

Welcome, and love the name btw xD

I suppose so, just a song like Spanish Sahara seems made for that time of day. I also think it would work better for Disclosure if they played last as a daylight set seems out of place for them. I think that RandL should've made it a Disclosure closing set rather than a full Co-headliner.

Is it only me thinking The 1975 are way too big for the tent now, I wouldn't be surprised to see them headlining with another album

Im guessing they'd probably sell a similar amount of tickets to Fall Out Boy here, just seems daft them only budging one slot even though this new album does appear to have boosted them

there probably is a word, you'd just fuck it up, put it in the wrong order and make it so no one can understand you.

Doesn't what how bad a word you use, what wrong order you put it in or how you place it.....it's all still a crock load of shite! The year the festival died as a twin site.

Lolwut

I'd put the thumbs in the middle on the headliners. WeakISH subs. Think it's more of a mixed bag. Imagine Dragons are a strong sub I think.

The rest seems a bit iffy to me.

I think the headliners are pretty strong, obviously the Chilis are a big draw and Foals and Biffy are well known for their live performances and are popular among the Leeds/Reading crowd. Not sold on Disclosure and Fall Out Boy personally but with there being five acts being billed as headliners there's a bit of everything; rock giants in RHCP, a band looking at potentially becoming a household name in Foals, a hugely popular pop-rock/emo staple in FOB, renowned live act with Biffy and something alternative with Disclosure.

I'd say that I find the subs pretty weak (presuming Chvrches, Imagine Dragons and The Vaccines sub) as only The Vaccines really do anything for me. As for the rest of the lineup I think it's quite strong and there's definitely plenty of acts I want to see, with some solid additions in the next couple of announcements to pad it out a little I think it could be great.

This years line up to me is terrible, but then I freely admit that I'm not one that keeps up to date with the music scene so that's to be expected. I'm toying with the idea of a Friday(?) day ticket as I'd like to see Die Antwoord and Maximo Park, but that is in the hope that the day will fill up with a couple more acts I know and like. My main issue with Reading now is that I have seen the calibre of other UK festivals and realise that, in essence, Reading is a lot of 'big' acts surrounded by some campsites. Nothing more than that. Glasto and Boomtown for example have so much more to offer as they seem to genuinely care about the festival-goer and not just the ticket sales.

Maybe i'm just being dumb, but surely chvrches are not exactly big enough to be below the two headliners on Friday? Personally I think they are a great band... but I can't help thinking it would make sense for an act like Tame Impala to fit in after them. Thoughts?

it's a shame that tame aren't on the llineup, but yeah chvches aren't big enough to sub, 21 pilots makes more sense as a sub than them

Perhaps Chvrches won't be subbing then, I don't really follow them. I've seen some people tipping them for the spot so just used them for it. I'm hoping that Tame Impala will be announced for that slot though.

Chili's for sure! Dad has seen them twice and I was brought up with them around the house so its going to be incredible! Really excited for Biffy and Foals as well though and if Fall Out Boy played all of "From Under The Cork Tree" It would be the only way i'd be excited to see them...

It's a shame that Fall Out Boy set will never happen. I think they'll probably play two songs at most from FUTCT (Sugar, we're going down and Dance, Dance). They also seem to have forgotten that Take This To Your Grave ever existed.. Which is, in my opinion, their best album. Maybe that's just me being nostalgic.. but It isn't even on Spotify!

I'm sure they still close on Saturday

Nope, still a tonne of acts still to be announced.

Doubt there will be anything that high though.....we did at least have a TBA slot on the poster for Alt-J last time, I might have some confidence if the top of the layout said that at all before Chvrches or something but when it comes to it, co-headers almost means that there isn't actually a sub recognised act and it just goes to 3rd down.

Probably correct, I enjoyed them at Download 2014 and as much as I thought save rock and roll had some tunes.....american sweethearts/psycho whatever is was called really wasn't. Can't complain, seen them enough times with their older stuff.

I stand corrected. Just had a quick look on setlist.fm, they do close on Saturday.

Ir's really not the best song to close on either

The older material still gets played a fairly decent amount. Looked at their setlists for the UK tour expecting to hardly any older stuff, it's still there. Not a great but still there I guess

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
