This is a question regarding registration and securing tickets in the resale.

Most of our circle of friends have secured their tickets for this year's festival - myself included - however, we have a friend who lives in Longford who missed out in October and is pinning his hopes on securing his ticket in either the main April resale or a smaller resale in May.

I was wondering if he has to buy his ticket from the Republic or could we help him by doing it from here in the North?

I do understand that outside of the UK, tickets must be bought using credit cards, and that there are no postcodes in the Republic, so would this complicate his efforts, or ours to help him?

Either your friend uses his Irish address and a credit card, no need for postcode just use the county and it will be fine. Or they can register at your address and use your debit card, needs to be linked to a UK account.

Another friend suggested registering him to my address, so I think we'll choose that option.

There will be quite a few of us on resale duty, so that would be the safest option.

If your friend is already registered he will have something in the postcode section of the registration form and use that, my ticket was booked from the UK by one of their debit cards with no issues but safest way would be for you to try using his "postcode" and a credit card. it wont matter where the computer is just the registered address

As part of Uni course work I had to spend six weeks in Co. Leitrim.

This was pre-internet, so to find out a bit about the place - accomodation options, etc. - it we called up the Irish Tourist Board, but they'd never even heard of it.

Doesn't matter where you are, process is the same. Get his reg number and postcode. Which is probably "Longford".

Just do whatever you can to get him out of that hellhole. If you don't get him a Glasto ticket buy him a one way flight to Syria or Nigeria instead. Much nicer places.

I've been to both Longford and Syria - the latter has plenty to recommend it, but I'm not so sure about the former.

You do have to go out of your way to get there as it is, quite literally, in the arsehole of nowhere. The only reason I've ever been is to visit my friend. Other than that, it's highly unlikely I would ever have set foot in it in my lifetime.

I happened to find myself once at the 200 year anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Ballinamuck, whilst actually (as in on purpose.) visiting Ballinamuck in Longford (to see a friend). The day's highlight (apparently) was the re-enactment of the battle by people who dress in old uniforms and do that sort of thing. However, the highlight for me was when the current Irish army (who were there in some number) decided to let off explosives in an empty bog like field at the back of one of the pubs. I remember going to the toilet for a slash, looking out the open window while slashing, and then seeing parts of the bog just blow up into the air. This was well away from the reenactment and, if memory serves me right, took place after it ie. there was no rhyme nor reason to it. The rest of the day and night was a drunken affair.
