We got a 2 man yurt this year and they sold out within 3 minutes so be fast!

Or, don't bother, it's not worth the money. I'd be interested to know the return figures for previous customers less than 50% would be my guess??

What did you think of the Yurt? Spacious?

Liked the look of the Podpads too but they looked pretty tiny!

Yes, we won't be back if we get tickets. Caravan next year I reckon. The shower block was the same size as last year and there wasn't much more toilets than the previous year either. Basic facilities need to be vastly improved.

The build and quality was excellent but spacious they were not. We had a blow up double mattress and with the yurt being circular that was the entire space covered. Everybody seemed to expect a bit bigger around us too. It was ok though size wise it was other things that would mean I won't return

I've stayed in WV for the past 2 years, but I won't do it again.

They said they increased the amount of showers, and for the ladies they did, but the queues were longer than the year before! Didn't understand that.

In 2013 I never queued more than 20 minutes even at peak times, this year it was over an hour. I guess they had electrical problems.

The walk to the car is fantastic, we carried in much more food/booze than we normally would which saved a bit of money. That's one massive bonus.

The atmosphere is lacking though -- it is truly the suburbs of Glasto.

The morning there was the massive queue for showers the filters had blocked and they lost all the water pressure.

We stayed at the off site last year at the pop up place, which was ok but a much further walk, and although there was less of an issue with showers I have to say the set up at WV was better. The pop up showers were individual units with coir matting outside that was rank by the Saturday morning. The hill was steep but my lack of fitness was more of the issue there, and as we only walked up it once a day it wasn't that much of a hassle. We've looked at other options but WV is still looking likely for us next year (if we get tickets) as it is closest to the areas of the site we use the most.

We stayed in the ZooLoos Powder Room and would do so again in a heartbeat.

Three of us shared a bell tent which gave us plenty of room and the loos and shower facilities were consistently clean (what looked to be several staff were employed simply to look after them). Only had to queue once for a shower and that was less than 5 minutes.

Had a lovely tent serving drinks/breakfasts so we bought a bacon roll each morning for our walk onto site.

Location was right by the pop up motel/hotel so a little distance away (made worse by the fact that the most direct route to gate D was closed but should be open again next year) but this was massively outweighed by the fact that I could stroll in at 7am, put my eye mask on and have a peaceful sleep waking up only to the sound of the birds :-) We only did the walk to site once a day as well.

We booked Ashcombe Parking as well which is not only cheaper than the official car parks (£25) but also a short 5 minute walk away from our tent.

I extensively researched all options last year and this definitely worked for us.

Agree with other posters here - first time at worthy view and short walk to site is a real plus - but glamping it is not

The toilet facilities were seriously inadequate - couldn't have been more than 70/80 units over whole site - horrendous queues from Friday onwards

Also the row of portaloos near the village green bar and eating area - no taps for hand washing - so pack drill is take dump, order food, eat food - the gel sanitisors (when not empty) inside the portaloos are not adequate

Only one separate hot drink outlet so basically a morning coffee was out of the question unless you had a spare hour to kill waiting

No atmosphere around camp at all - neighbours both sides could barely be arsed to mumble hello over the full 5 days

Showers - used them once on Friday morning - happily showering way for 5 mins and looked down to discover some superstar had left a dead otter on the shower floor - as I said it's not glamping!

I think there were about 3 times as many people so unless they tripled the number of showers the queues were always going to be longer.

We camped there in 2011, the year of the failed Myhab venture.

Wasn't anywhere near as organised as it looks now, the big advantage and the reason I'd look at it again was the close proximity to the car and and quieter.

I only had one shower so wasn't too bothered about the half hour queue.

Agree its a bit souless but we only were in the campsite to sleep.

Christ, I didn't realise they had TRIPLED the amount of people. That's madness.

What did we pay £260 for? A pre-erected tent and a short distance to the gate and carpark?

After the hassle we endured this year with two sack trolleys breaking, me getting a bad back for a week after the festival and the fact that our 6-man tent needs replacing next year, that sounds like a bargain to me! I'm not interested in having a shower (I cope well enough without one in the normal fields) so the queues for that don't bother me and someone said that it was £7 for a bacon roll and a cup of coffee which is fairly consistent with the rest of the site. Definitely something I'll be looking at next year.

I'm not sure where this figure of £260 has come from but I was under the impression that the lowest prices were £350+

Might be wrong though

After my WV experience I've put down a deposit on a caravan for next year. Little bit more but delivered to site and collected. I much preferred the CV fields

The price came from it (almost) being the cost of a 2 man tent at WV. I wasn't exact with the amount because I could only remember it being 335 or 338 euro's on my card statement, wasn't sure of the GBP equivalent.

From my confirmation email.

"You have booked a pitch at the WORTHY VIEW campsite at Glastonbury 2014, Pilton-Somerset on 25th - 29th June 2014

You have purchased the following

Reference xxxxxxxx - 1x 2 PERSON SCOUT TENT at £265.00

Reference xxxxxxxx - 1x TICKET PLAN at £5.50

This order does not contain any entry tickets to the event.

You have been charged a total of £270.50 and this will appear on your statement as 'GLASTONBURY'

To check the status of your order go to http://www.seetickets.com/CustomerService"

Fair enough I stand corrected. Not sure why we went for a 2 man yurt then at £375! I thought we'd got one of the cheaper WV options

Either way Lexbank, even the cheapest option wasn't worth it! How do you go about renting a caravan that's dropped off for you? We've been looking into buying one, seems to me you'd get a fairly decent one for 1000/£800.

Edit: I just realised I left out the most important part!

I'm sure it was for some people but WV really wasn't my bag at all but choice is always a good thing eh.

Obviously the caravan rental is from a local company (refundable deposit is no ticket success) who deliver and collect.

I really don't fancy going to the expense of buying a caravan , fitting a tow bar, insuring it and then towing it. I really wouldn't use it personally apart from Glastonbury so it's not an option to buy for us

A trailer tent might be a good choice,my sister bought hers 10 years ago for family camping trips,we used it for Glasto this year,it had 2 double fold out beds with matresses, cooking and washing unit and a massive awning to chill in.

She's just sold it on ebay for 300 quid,so got her money back,so if you get a tow bar fitted @ £200 and a trailer tent for £300 thats 500 and just sell it on ebay after the festival, they don't hang about this time of year so will be easy to sell.

It's a good idea and one we've considered but there's too many obstructions/complications in the way for it to work for us though (I won't bore you with the details). Thanks anyway

Had this discussion on Glastochat. Have a look on ebay, sold listings, recent first, unless you want something fancy they're even cheaper than that. You have 2 options there, either take it yourself (and sell it afterwards on ebay, shouldn't lose too much in the space of a week) or for the incredibly lazy, there's always the option of contacting a local salvage company, where they haul it onto site for you, and in exchange they can keep it after the festival (perhaps with some cash to you as well) - even that works out cheaper than the apparent costs of hiring one for a week.

  • 1 month later...

What happens with shuttles to WV if your goingt o be getting public transport?

Really want a podpad for 2015

There are shuttles from the coach park where all the coaches drop off onsite. I think there ae also shuttles from Xastle Cary train station to the coach park and you can get the WV shuttle from there.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
