So, it's been covered before that lots of people are relocating from Dairy Ground this year because of Arcadia's new position and it looks like my group might end up doing the same. I like Dairy Ground for a number of reasons but the most important to me is that the loos are long/high drops. I've never been able to "go" in a portaloo so I thought I'd call on everyone's knowledge here as to which campsites have which types of toilet just so we can add that into our plans. So hit me, what fields have what loos?

I haven't spent a festival going round making notes about the toilet situation in each field, but I'm reasonably sure there are now long drops and or high drops in most camping areas, bar those near the other stage, john peel and silver Hayes. There are flushing toilets up in row mead/big ground.

However, unless you plan on staying by your tent and only leaving it to go for a poo every five minutes, the toilet situation might not be as important as you think when choosing a camping location!

Why are they so special or are they actually called super long drops? Forgive me, I've had a smoke and I've got difficulty making a conclusion on the content of your words.

I camp in the crew area behind the park and am wondering what difference the change of location for Arcadia will make. Not just from the noise of the stage being nearer but also if the crowd camping in Dairy Ground changes as they're right next door and usually a fairly pleasant set of neighbours.

best not focus on the loo situation too much. just try and concentrate on the myriad of opportunities available to you at Glastonbury! Focussing on the toilet situation, trying to pre-plan your sh1tting and p1ssing requirements vis-a-vis the range of facilities available to you might not prepare you too much for the inevitable encounter with the fearsome longdrop....

Just posted this in the other thread.

I was near the top of Dairy last year, close to the Park Home border and there were those fantastic shit-in-a-wheelie-bin jobs there, which were a godsend.

Not going back up there this year due to Arcadia - think im aiming to the north of the site, where these shit-bins there last year too?

There are going to be around 1,000 compost loos around the site this year, many more than previous years. They are the same as the wheelie bin ones - they use wheelie bins to collect and transport the waste for composting.

There will be a set of compost loos next to the WaterAid pit latrines in King's Meadow close to the stone circle, as there were last year. Both of these will be manned by WaterAid volunteers from 8am on Thursday until 8pm on Sunday (except between 2am and 8 am). So they will be the cleanest on site and we're hoping that the queues won't be too long - come and see us!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
