How To Get Too The Front?

Turning up for the finish of the previous act will usually get yourself to the front. It's quite easy earlier in the day, but you can get to the front even for the Pyramid stage headliners like this. Just make the most of the space created by people leaving and use the crowd surges during the opening songs if you need to get closer.

Don't waste all your time trying to be at the front for everything, you'll miss a lot of stuff!

I know how it feels to want to be at the front, I'd love to be down the front for Lily Allen. I'm hoping she's not too late in the day so she's not too close to the headliner, that way I can get down there as the previous act finishes and slowly wiggle my way down to the front. She's the only act I plan on seeing at the Pyramid anyway, so it wont eat in to my festival too much if I try to get down the front!

I've never understood the point of being at the front. Surely part of the joy is experiencing the act as part of a huge community of festival ticket holders? You'll never get that experience with absolutely nobody in front of you other than pissed off stewards who have to look in the opposite direction all night and camera crews who'll think nothing of blocking your view if it means those watching the BBC red button get a good close up.

Nah, fuck the front row. For the best experience, I'm anticipating being about a third of the way back - you have to endure the flags, but you can get a good view and soak up the sense of being part of something special.

Last year, I arrived at the Pyramid stage just as the Artic Monkeys came onstage and 5 minutes later I found myself down the front with Kids. I sort of thought I'll just shimmy along the hoardings and see how far I can go, and without upsetting to many people and going with the surge and taking advantages of the gaps I was dead center and about 30 feet away from the barrier which was great. The perfect spot for me would be the other side of the oval barrier between the speakers to get the full hit of the best sound.

Get about ten people together and all hold hands. Get in a big line and make your way through the crowd shouting coming through - ideally whilst carrying lots of flags and a big ruck sack.

Glastonbury crowd loves that and will step aside and let you get a good spot at the front no problem at all

I try to tell newbies about the amazing girl-caterpillars but they never believe it until one wriggles past

Now I try and avoid being irritated by looking at the faces of any poor boyfriends caught in tthem and remembering I've not got it so bad

Don't wash for a month before the festival, find some horse shit dropped by the police horses, roll around in that. You will be surprised how much room people will give you, just walk straight to the front as the crowd parts in front of you.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
