Camper ticket Help needed please?

hi, this may seem a little longwinded so bear with me.....

myself and my brother are headin to glasto this year, I managed to get my ticket in the october sale and my brother could only manage a bus ticket combo from Swindon 5 am Wednesday morning, thing is......

we are travelling from Ireland via Fishguard in a camper, I dont drive so it is a complete pain for us, it look likes we will have to drive to Swindon stay there tuesday night, my brother to take the bus from Swindon, get his ticket onroute and then travel back to Swindon to collect me and the camper.

Questions are;

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a bus back to Swindon after arriving at the festial site?

Does anyone think it might be at all possible for me to take my brother place on the bus and collect his ticket?

Does the bus driver check the photos on tickets?

Does anyone know any way around this predicament so we can maxamise our time at the festival?

all info and advice welcome....

Cheers

Dom

Hello foolelle

I hadn't realised that you had posted in the Questions section too. On there you say the following;

I know how un-green & un-glasto like etc that might seem, but I have been trying for tickets for a few years now with no luck except last year so I wasn't going to be taking any chances again. If it had of worked out as planned my brother wouldn't have done the same thing as me and got an early ticket, but we got our wires crossed and both ended up buying the early combo tickets, the plan was I would get the early ticket travel to the festival on the bus and meet him there, either of us dont have an issue traveling on the bus but coz we have 2 bus tickets we wont be eligible to purchase a van ticket.

So in the above statement you are more than implying the fact that your brother did the same thing as you and actually bought an early ticket himself ie that you didn't buy both tickets, which after me pointing it out, you said above was actually the case.

It's complete bollocks. So what is it - you want an 'in' via the campervan pass and then over the fence or whatever?

Foolelle if you don't get a campervan ticket it might be a lesson learnt (although if as it seems you did the same thing last year maybe not). But all is not lost you are still going to the greatest festival in the world, many have not been so lucky. And so what if you don't have the luxury of a campervan (assuming yours is luxurious that is :P), you really shouldn't be spending great deal of your time at your sleeping accommodation anyway, when there so many other fun places to be. So unless you also have some sort of tent phobia why don't you just slum it with the rest of us plebs, I can assure you the festival is still just as good, and you can save your campervan ticket cost and petrol money for lots of festival food and drinks. It's a win wim situation in my book :D

This whole story resembles swiss cheese.

You may as well come clean. There was no mix up with your brother was there. You just took whatever the first tickets you could get, and hoped to blag it later. Fair play, but it's the blatant lies that grate.

"they sent me an email i can show to the driver"

This is another lie isnt it?

If you can get a camper van ticket....

you need to park your van in Glastonbury town on a tuesday, get train to Swindon, and meet bus to come back. Then you can exit the festival and go and get your van together, and then enter in your van....

If you cant.... get deposit back on camper van asap, and get a tipi or something else....or just camp.

Or return your coach tickets and get a normal one....

On behalf of the reputation of other CVers, I have to say I held firm and waited for the Sunday sale. However deviant I am in other areas, I didn't blag it with a coach.

yeah ok I decided to for it and get the bus tickets in the first sale knowing that there wouldnt be as much of a demand for them, simply to guarantee us tickets, it all fell apart when glasto office said we would be furnished with the facility to buy a camper ticket when paying the balance. They did however forward on an email saying if we were successful in getting a 3rd party to buy a ticket for us that only one of us needed to travel on the bus and could collect the others ticket, despite what Russy has assumed. But I wouldnt expect anyone to believe anything I say now.

I lied because I have been reading these threads for some years now and I have seen how most (not all) of the people with 1000+ post think they won the place and treat people with simple questions and queries along with newbies. I felt if I said I had booked combo tickets simply to secure tickets what happened today would have happened earlier.

Simple - apologies if I have offended anyone!

Yog I enjoy the festival much like 99% of the rest of festival goers. I have never nor would never so much as leave my rubbish behind. So if you asking or trying to imply that I would be robbing tents or campers for that matter, causing trouble, starting fights, or anything else that wouldn't sit well with you then the answer is no, I wouldnt

thanks Yog, I wasnt including you in that tarring of the same brush, Ive seen the nice things you can do here, but I will decline all invites to enter into a debate on peoples content, it is subjective after all and I'm too deep in this debate anyway.

Sir Robin, I think from my post last year it is obvious that I wasnt trying to play the system, I dont drive, had a regular ticket but my brother could only manage a combo in the resale so we were left with a problem as he had to drive the van. Anyway thanks for your feedback.

Not happy.

Feeling fucking foolish, to be blunt.

For eFest Forum Members:

I my naivety i genuinely felt for foolelle's predicament and considered helping.

I'm in Holland at the mo and have not seen the forums regularly due to cost.

Do not like, nor am i used to, being lied to or made to look a c***.

I didn't have to fess up on here that i'd offered to help. But after 10 years going to Glasto and years reading these forums i finally built up the confidence to start posting recently.

I enjoy it too much here - and theres far too many decent people on here (see the way people have gone out of tbere way to give food stall recommendations for my wife's first Glasto) - for me not to warn those people who i've come to respect that i've been duped.

Not. Fucking. Happy.

Foolelle - please unfollow me on Twitter. Now.

Evening ruined.

Hello Woffy

I'd say stay with it on the posting front. I'd say that to anybody else lurking out there. If you want more fun than lurking, then you really need to post. That way everyone benefits. You get to have your say, and everybody else gets the 'oxygen' you've given to keep this place alive. I was very trepidatious at posting at first. It seems like a big step to make. It's not though. It's a tiny one.

I'll continue posting. I enjoy it a lot. And enjoy everyone's virtual company and differing opinions. And help when asked.

I'm just FUCKING LIVID at the moment; at foolelle (i could post his real name, but won't)...and at myself. Perhaps the latter grates the most.

Furious though nonetheless.

Thanks for tbe support though anyway Yog. Have appreciated it since first posting on here.

I thought about doing it, privately offering and exchanged messaged via twitter and pms on here as to how i can help...on my mobile, at cost, whilst visiting family in Holland with no frickin' broadband...and kept receiving pleas while he was admitting lying on here.

So yeah.

And it doesnt feel something to be proud of right now, tbh.

Not commenting on it anymore. Too angry. And wanna get back to frivolous posts.

    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
