Blur, Stevie, Shakey and Macca were all better than the Stones.

As was Bowie obviously (best ever) and most probably Radiohead '97.

Stones isnt quite in the top tier. Didnt pull at the heartstrings enough IMO.

Glasto rewards sentimentality above all other attributes.

But that's not what you said. Shakey in '09 is in my top 2 gigs ever. But will people still be talking about it in 50 years as much as the Stones. (Excluding you and I and other Young obsessives round here).

By the way, that run from For No one through to Yesterday, on paper at least, is heavyweight as fuck!

And do you know what, the more I read that setlist, the more I hate you bastards who had the sense to go.

I had a ticket that year as well, but gave it to the father-in-law as the missus missed out and her sisters were going and I didn't fully know what the fuss was about.

Macca was brill, Bowie tops it though because it was almost the perfect setlist, for me. Macca wasn't quite as perfectly suited to my tastes.

Stones were great but weren't even in my top 2 sets that year, let alone ever.

Loved Macca. Loved it. I have a similar Macca moment but I don't want it to seem like gloating...saw him at the iTunes 'festival' in London (at the ICA? I'll go check...).

Only about 300 people in there (again i'll check in a minute).

However, i missed Bjork on the Other when she clashed with Arctic Monkeys first headline.

Daughter wanted to see Bjork.

Son wanted to see AM - his heroes at the time, being called Alex and learning guitar.

AM won out...on the condition i took daughterwoffy to see Bjork another time.

Did so at Hammersmith Apollo and she's was incredible...if that's your cup 'o tea.

No idea if she rocked the Other that year though. Anyone know?

At the Apollo it started mellow and the gig upped in pace until it ended as banging techno, pretty much.

Lots of theatrical gubbins too, which worked.

Always been happy with the choices I've made as far as how I finish the night. I think maybe Orbital in 2010 is the only one I can think of, and I had to leave Sunday morning in 2000, so missed bowie (but watched on telly)

Shakey is the big one, the one I'd give a nut (or as the kids say, "do a justiceforcedave") to see. Other than him, I would have loved to see The White Stripes, and Beyonce would have been cool. I do wonder if the TV footage was too flattering on Beyonce though, I don't think I'd have lost out on very much at all of the Arctic Monkeys experience by just watching the telly footage, whenever I think of that show, I think of how horrible the crowd was first.
