Led Zeppelin?

Right, I know this is unlikely, but last year I remember hearing some small rumors about Led Zep headlining, and I've just heard about the release of some re-issues and 4 unheard songs in June!!!! and with Prince out of the equation now, and nobody really knowing who's going to headline the Saturday, do you guys think there's a chance of them playing??

I think probably not :( but I can really, really hope.

I know people said The Stones were the ultimate, but Led Zep are really the ultimate aren't they? I say this as an enormous Stones fan with only a casual knowledge of Led Zep, I still know they are the giant, they are the one that will make people utterly lose their minds with excitement if they were announced.

Think it was mentioned some months ago by Neil that Led Zeppelin were first choice to headline in 2014 (or perhaps I dreamt it). Coupled with Emily Eavis' "dream" line-up comments and it's obvious the festival are keen to pursue them.

Re-issues etc always spark rumours regarding new shows but we've always been left disappointed with Led Zep. Such has been the nature of Robert Plant's abrupt responses to questions of further gigs since that one-off O2 Arena show I would suggest he would sooner do a collaboration with the store manager of the Lidl in Basildon than consider any Glastonbury headline show with Page and JPJ.

Robert Plant has a pretty extensive tour with the Sensational Space Shifters. He's not just going to slip into Led Zeppelin mode for a weekend in the middle of his tour for an informal little Pyramid headline slot. :P

So no chance for 2014. I think Led Zeppelin will play again though, somewhere.

Id say its more likely than ever but I still cant see them playing Glasto

Been saying for a while I can see them playing a gig at Hyde Park or the Olympic Stadium this summer and this makes it more likely.

The fact there is no date over Glastonbury weekend and a gap of a week when the rest of the tour only has 2 or 3 day gaps does get me excited though.

It all seems pretty calculated to me.

Celebration day comes out last Christmas and sells a ton, a lot of interviews around that time where Plant seemed to be actually having a laugh with Page and Jones, spotify deal at the end of last year and now re-releasing the albums in the middle of summer when all of them are free (Plants solo tour doesnt start until mid june, the albums come out in the first week)

Its all about keeping the interest up and building the hype up for a final set of gigs. Page wants to do it, Jones wants to do, I think Plant is just waiting until the time is right to do it one more time.

I think there could be a final set of gigs of course, just not this summer. Plant has June and July just about fully booked, with a handful of dates either side of those months. Six days off around Glastonbury is not enough for Robert to click back into Led Zep mode. They'd need months and months of practice to prepare for live shows, as in they'd have already been practicing for a while by now and we know that wouldn't have been kept secret. So if it was calculated then they will have gone back on that idea before the Space Shifters tour started being arranged.

Either way, Glastonbury is definitely out as he's heavily hinted at performing this year but 'not with the band people may want' or something along those lines. Hopefully he's testing the festival out for next year.

    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
    • This Isaac wood news has dropped right out of left field. Great to hear he feels up to doing live stuff again    what will he play? Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
