Have a fire in 2014?

Just wondering if we should have a thread for those who do go back to their tents earlier than others? Should we meet up in someone's area?

I'd be up for it in theory. The problem is that the mind gets scrambled easily and it's hard to remember commitments. That said, it would be good to have an initial meet up at the Cider Bus on the Wednesday, then an around the fire meet up on the Thursday. Mind you, the whole of efests meeting up around someone's little fire might prove to be logistically impossible.

well me ,I love a bloody good camp fire. And will , within reason, bend local festival bylaws ( no camp fires , no open flames ,no fun etc etc) to get a dancing orange, crackling, smoky happiness thing going on. Not irresponsibly. We actually take our own home made brazier,( basically an old school metal fire bucket with holes drilled in, and feet attached) and keep water v handy.

We have done this at many festivals but at Glasto there is something extra magical about it.

But does anyone think that ,this is a bloody huge skelp of ground that the good and great Evi has.

So , there is surely scope somewhere on this green and pleasant pasture , to , say on Thursday night, fence off a decent size area ,or even 2 or 3 ,and have a f**k off massive bonfire .i mean the type of size that our local council used to have for whole communitys ,before the spectre of nutzoid health and safety decisions hosed piss on the whole thing.

I think would look fantastic. Give a real feeling of the spirit of the area and might prevent daft sods doing their own thing at their tents.

Dont get me started on fireworwks on finale Sunday by the way...... :resent:

I was really just putting the idea out there.

ive been to other festivals where large comminity fires work perfectly well.and its a lovely atmosphere. yes, a few security .But what the fuck doesnt need that now. A simple fence a few yards back from the fire, primarily for the more junior of the crowds protection,

But folk throwing stuff into fire ? like what stuff ? ( oh thats an idea for a thread) never seen that happen .Sorry if you have Yogurt on a stick.

Just would like some more clear, open, communial gathering places of an evening (im only thinking Thursday ),that doesnt have to be a bar , or heading to naughty corner or similar . Or just sitting in their smaill goups of 2- 8 or whatever .

When did fires get banned? Last I knew there was still some stacks of free wood even recently. Finding the space to actually do it.. that's another matter.

We've always (almost) managed to have a fire albeit small. We welcome anyone who comes. That's the way it ought to be.

Dairy, look out for us.

At SGP they have fire circles, my friend and I spent a few hours at one this year, after we'd been out for the night. It was lovely. People just chatting, warming up, sharing drinks and stuff. There was a fire dude (for want of abetter term) that had a big stash of logs he kept chucking on to keep it going. It had r**ned earlier that evening for a good couple of hours, the fire guy said it took him 45 minutes to get a spark and get the fire started! Thats commitment!

We've had camp fires at glastonbury before, but there usually isnt room now. Our group tend to head up to Stone Circle and buy a bag or two of wood on the way. You get passing people stopping off for a chat, its nice. I'd love an efests campfire it it was possible.

Yes, there were stacks of wood this year. I was surprised to see that there was still wood there on the Monday. Far few people had fires next to their tents than has gone on in the past. For the first time I can remember we didn't have a fire this year. Must make ammends next year.
