None of our two groups of 6 got through, that's with nearly every person in that group hammering it at different locations.

I have got through on resale twice in the past though, once for myself and once for others so keep the faith people! we're in the right place to be on the ball when it happens

We had alost 20 people trying, all on different devices and all on different connections and none of us got anywhere near. Absolutey gutted. will have to make other plans for my 30th now:(

Would only have been my 2nd Glasto. If only I hadnt enjoyed myself quite so much last year, then maybe these gray clouds over me would seem so heavy :-(

Yes, I'm sure you're right. I would queue through a Siberian winter suspended over a pit of snakes and raw sewage, while listening to Celine Dion on repeat if I had to in order to get tickets... Hmmm... Maybe I should pitch it to 'See'...?

Haha, thanks Scorp ;-).

In a totally leftifield twist of fate (and a HAPPY one), a person I was chatting to on the Glasto FB page actually got me a ticket! She did message me to say that her mate had gotten on to the tickert buying page, but that it kept saying my registration number was not long enough (it is pretty little, as it's very old - but I had checked on the Glasto page and they had confirmed it was up to date) - she said it did then accept it, but the page crashed, so not to get my hopes up. I thought, maybe, she just wasn't able to get me one because there were other people in her group who were higher priority and was trying to let me down gently, and fair enough, she is a stranger! But then I checked my non-personal email account today (which Glasto is linked to) and, lo and behold, at 13:06 yesterday I got a confirmation email through saying a deposit had been accepted for my reference number.

I AM SO HAPPY!

It's actually almost sweeter for being a delayed gratifcation after yesterday's crushing disappointment!

Obviously not ideal to be going by myself, but I've done it before (flown solo) in 2007 and 2008 and still had an awesome time, so...

And hopefully one of my mates will pick something up in the resale.

But at the moment I am pretty happy with the Universe. JOY! BOUNDLESS JUBILATION!

there is no way physical queuing is ever going to happen, i wish people would stop going on about it to be honest. no one in today's society has the time to queue for however long it would be to actually get a ticket. you have the trouble of policing and providing for a queue of people that is quite frankly needless.

at least the way it is, its an hour or so out of your life in the comfort of your own home and within that hour to 2 hours its a yes or a no.

The queue this year was ridiculous. Some bellends had the bright idea to start queueing at midnight in the car park, which caused a mass panic. Now if we could all just agree to stay in our cars and get a good nights sleep...

Have no idea who Janet and Phil are but even I would not know all the Organsiers.
If you have not been a WBC volunteer before your chances are very close to zero .
I am a official WBC Group Organiser - in the 90's it would be common for me to allocate 25 places at Glastonbury but there was a lot less Groups then - for 2014 I am still working on the allocation but its likely to be around 12 or 14 places.
They will go to people who I can trust { some who have been with me over 20 years } - everyone has to be Dependable and Trustworthy hence why strangers cant join my Group as its not worth the risk.
But lets say I had someone drop down dead - I have a standby list { of people who have already worked for me } - most other WBC Group Organiser will do the same.
depending which Group it is depends on their allocation numbers - trade Unions and Labour groups are rarely cut back { provided they make realistic requests } but the vast majority of Groups will be cut back - as a old hand I get cut back 20% most none political Groups will be cut back between 50% and 100% for Glastonbury.
If a Group is cut back 50% they are likely to drop the least experienced hence why if you are new its likely you will be cut - I know its tough but its always been that way and I know WBC volunteers who have five years WBC experience but they have never managed to be allocated a space at Glastonbury - the trick is to build up the years at other WBC events.
If Janet and Phil run a trade Union or Labour group then your odds are far higher but many of these Groups only accept people who have a direct connection to the group { if its a trade union Group you have to be a member of that trade union }
Apart from two people { who live abroad } I sorted out who wanted to work at Glasto 2014 last June and will find out in 8 days as they are visiting London from Iceland if they want the places - there will be a main list and then those on standby so everyone knows where they stand.
-------
You would have to be in the WBC 20 years before there is any prospect of free passes - sorry.
If you can get a place then its really worth doing it - you get onsite on the Tuesday { the WBC has coaches from all over the Country } - once you get into the swing of shifts its easy - where I was working { WBC Camp } we were doing a 24 shift pattern { 6am to Midday - Midday to 6pm - 6pm to Midnight - Midnight to 6am } - this is the first time they have tried this and amazingly most of the teens did not want to do the early shift { 6am to Midday } but for us this was ideal as it meant we could get the shifts out the way - I really thought I would have to pull Rank but when we were sorting out the shifts none of the young ones fancied that shift. We even managed to get the early shift on the Saturday so we were free to see the Stones - magic.

If it helps I believe a company called Festaff recruit Glastonbury workers quite late on in the year, I signed up with them to work at the IOW festival last year and I'm sure they were looking for Glasto stewards in the early spring time. Oxfam is another option.

Amsterdam for me in April for Queens Day. It was a straight choice between the 2. I fookin forgot all about the sale on Sunday, until 9pm. Ah well 5 nights in Amsterdam and Queens Day in the middle will be great. Then back to T in the park i suppose.

I may try for Glasto next year now that i have at least registered.

i think the reason we all feel so crap is basically this modern internet age. We all now think at a click of a button we can get anything we desire and when it does not happen we just cannot compute it. Its like some people are not even getting anywhere near it. I last got tickets on the phone 10 years ago! In 1992 i queued overnight in the rain for U2 tickets at Earls Court i wonder how many people that have tickets today would be prepared to do that for Glasto....maybe it should be an option..all those people that say if you want to go enough you will, is infuriating - well ill volunteer if i can find a company that will let me bring my kids on the pass (i believe some do)

Well, they were only coach tickets on sale. I'm not sure if they were made up of only coach cancellations... probably a bit of both, but sold on as coach tickets... if that makes sense. Maybe Glasto didn't sell as many coach tickets initially as they thought they would (or for some other reason found it advantageous to sell more coach tickets) so by releasing the resale tickets as coach-only, killed two birds with one stone.

Or maybe the number of non-coach tickets left was so small that they didn't bother putting them on resale and just gave them away as competitions etc. or again absorbed them into the coach allocation.

Half of the job is logistics, the other half is PR...

2004 - 24 hours of trying (up all night and then with everyone in the office at work helping the next day) - didn't get a ticket.

Then the local radio mentioned a resale while I was driving home, 20 minutes later I had my ticket.

I know - but hope is a cruel thing ;-). I'd be happy to work - I'm an old lady now past my partying prime so 6am litter picking starts don't bother me at all - but from what I can gather from years on this board, worker spots are hugely over subscribed...?
