Shit post incoming

I'm bored, so if anyone cares I went through all the albums released since the beginning of 2013 up until this years festival for headliner sized/strong sub who released a top 10 album :thumbsu:

Foals
David Bowie
30STM
Depeche Mode
The Strokes
Daft Punk
Black Sabbath
A7X
Justin Timberlake
Kanye West
Jay-Z
Kings of Leon
Chase & Status
Pearl Jam
Arcade Fire
Elbow
Paolo Nutini
The Black Keys
Coldplay
Kasabian
Linkin Park
Morrissey
I reckon only a quarter of these are even slightly likely though

Now cut out the ones that don't have guitars

If melvin is telling the truth and says "all guitar bands" than i've edited it down.

We have a long list...

The ones from before Aug '13 aren't the past year though.

And I already did that earlier so nobody else would have to. :P

I thought that too but he could probably twist it into being from "last year" rather than just the past year

I hope they announce all the headliners next week, I've already over exerted myself on this

So potentially (just for speculative purposes)

One of the headliners could be

Foals, 30STM, The Strokes, Black Sabbath, Kings Of Leon, Chase and Status, The Black Keys, Coldplay, Kasabian, Linkin Park.

EDIT: removed A7X

Shit it better not be linkin park.

Linkin Park are probably at their lowest point popularity-wise in the UK so it'd be odd for them to headline R/L now / next year. don't see it (unless they're a co-headliner - currently co-headlining a tour in the US with 30 Seconds To Mars. oh dear)

an odd set of acts - none of them stand out as a bigger possibility (i would've said KOL but it really would be on the arse end of their tour)

Surely the same can be said about Blink?

but Blink are a good-time fun nostalgic act that everybody loves. Linkin Park are not. i know Hyrbrid Theory may hold a lot of nostalgia for people but not enough to want to see them headline R/Ls. plus their most recent setlists look bizarre. doesn't look like they play a single song in full - just the first verse and chorus before starting to play a completely different song

At least that would segregate 2 shite acts to a singular day

My money would be on KOL at the moment too, will have been nearly 2 years since the album release so could see it being touted as their last UK gig for a while or something

Not really. I reckon them and Linkin Park are about level in terms of general popularity.

nah i think more people prefer Blink purely for their jokey silly ways. you can have a laugh going to see Blink. Linkin Park would just be odd. the only time they seemed right to headline was in 2003 when they did. if they did it any other year it would've been a travesty

their new album utterly failed though. even in the US, where they've somehow managed to maintain a strong fanbase, it only reached #3, behind Lana Del Rey and Sam Smith of all people (i know #3 doesn't sound that bad but considering they've had #1s for years and years it's the start of their downfall). i don't think anybody in the crowd would know any of the new songs (or the ones from the album before that... or the album before that)

but yeah you're right, none of those acts seem right really
