One thing that would be horrid would be for Liverpool to beat City this Sunday, but at the end of the season they both end up on the same points and so Liverpool loose the league by Goal Difference! Yikes!

Hopefully Liverpool can get really close, then it gets ripped away from them.

I don't think they'd be crying, do you?

While they've got a realistic chance at the title, it's waaay beyond the best they'd have realistically hoped for at the start of the season. The fact that they're in the race now is a huge bonus.

I think their fans would.

I guess it depends which fans you hear.

I read the comments on the Guardian articles quite often, and i'm not sure there's more than a handful who are even half-thinking they might do it. Most are "this is too good to be true, it won't/can't last" sort-of thing.

Some nice hate there for Liverpool........ All ManU fans? Or just a majority?

Yep Liverpool have had a lot of penos, but they are creating them with their play mostly and not simply been handed goals by refs.

Interesting thing about penalties is that Suarez does not take them. Thus, are we actually witnessing the best striking performance ever in the PL?

I wonder how others records would compare if you take away the penos

It doesn't matter. They are where they are. They'll be as gutted as anyone. Utd strengthening in the summer and Chelsea and Arsenal too, Suarez playing like a man possessed, This is as good as a chance they could have for a while.

Well of course they're going to be wanting to try and do it, that goes without saying. Tho if they come up short they've nothing to be ashamed of.

After all, most of the nay-sayers spent the first half of the season continually saying they wouldn't even make top 4.

Well spotted.... and the same people who spent the first half of the season saying Liverpool wouldn't make top 4 and Utd would.

Just like the recent attacks on Arsenal, it's not quite what it seems.

I think most Liverpool fans think this but still dream.

And I dream of Aldershot winning the Prem.

They have won 9 on the bounce. Another 5 is such a big ask! Points have to be dropped at some point........ I reckon they could actually beat City but think it will be Chelsea who will ruin the party.

I've spent the whole season looking at the averages, and I agree, they can't keep on winning. Tho I didn't think they'd have kept winning till now either.

Anything is possible. They could lose the big games and still win the Prem, depending on the other's results.

I would say the best would be that wins you the premier league, scores in tight games against top opposition.

Tevez was very good at that, more prolific strikers but would score winners or to get you points. Scoring hat tricks against Norwich don't really count, same way I wouldn't call Andy Cole great scoring 5 against Ipswich.

It's not like Suarez goes missing in the big games - even the most simple of stats prove that he doesn't.

Meanwhile he's clocking up the records for his scoring as an average.

I don't think it matters what your expectations are, if you have a carrot dangled in front of you and lose it at the death, its going to hurt as a fan.

it can only be taken away if you think you already have it.

If they miss out then they'll be disappointment of course, but mostly it'll be a genuine "fantastic season". They'll have exceeded all expectations wherever they finish (as long as it's still top 4) now, because no one would have dreamed of them being genuinely in the race in the way they are.

Obviously if you have a real chance at winning a league title and it doesn't happen, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

After a while, the pain will go away completely and it'll be remembered as a great season and rightly so, but lets not try and underplay the expectations that come with the sort of season Liverpool are having.

    • Wasn't just me who thought it was either oversold or inadequately setup for the event then? For Pride, over the weekend, where there's also acts in the large blue marquee that was to the right of the "arena" (for want of a better term), it's probably much better as people are dispersed more. Thought the band were great, as was Nick, though he was clearly struggling with his voice at times.
    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
