cheap mobile phones

anybody got any recommendations for a cheap phone with long battery life?

i bought a nokia from phones 4 u for £7 before glastonbury '10 that was perfect, it lasted the whole festival and did its job. i took it to loads of festivals until i lost it in a drunken haze somewhere. (someone found it and phoned me and offered to send it back but in a moment of sheer stupidity i thanked them but told them not to even bother as it was so inexpensive, i regret saying that as it was a perfect festy phone)

I bought a Nokia 100 from amazon - £18

I charged it up a few weeks ago now and the battery still looks to be on about 95% from its first charge... however i haven't used it properly - but as battery life goes I'm impressed.

Apparently 8hrs ish talk time and 35days standby... that will do me, but did buy a spare battery just incase.

I have used a Nokia 100 RH-130CV unlocked phone and the claimed battery life is true enough and provided you are not calling every five minuets one charge will get you though Glastonbury with power to spare .
although a very basic phone I did find some useful features - due to cancer treatment I have lots of appointments spread out over three separate hospitals so a ' reminder function ' was a big asset as I could set it to ring at a certain time/date showing which hospital as I was due to attend and the time/date so its not just a alarm clock,
this was dead easy to set up - The back removal can be tricky at first ' but don't force it ' - here is how I do it -
hold the phone with the front facing you ' on its side ' holding the top and bottom ' lightly ' with your fingers - so my left fingers are close to the top of the screen and my right fingers are close to the bottom of the keypad - I then push with my right thumb towards my left hand and it slides open.I would recommend that you do this a few times as this will make it easier in the future - in fact I can open it just with one hand.
I would have preferred a more detailed instruction book as it is very basic but the information is out there
over time I did find in a noisy area that the speaker volume was lower than I would like but at that price { under £19 unlocked from Amazon } I cant complain.
My brother wanted to give me a gift so he ended up buying me a Doro 615 unlocked which is £100 more expensive than the Nokia 100 which suits me better as it has a far louder speaker volume although the battery life is still to be tested at a festival but as I have access to power in the crew area its not such a problem.
if you can live with a basic phone with no camera then really you cant go wrong with the unlocked Nokia 100.

I've just bought a Nokia 100 too. Not used it properly yet but according to the reviews on Amazon (and on here) it should do the trick. I also got a micro sim adapter for the grand price of £1.24 so no need to buy a PAYG sim and tell everyone I'm going with a different number. It also means I can take and use my smart phone for when I have to make a video skype call to my friends who are attending a wedding instead of coming to Glasto - they're really really really pleased about this and are really really really looking forward to seeing my grubby gurning face calling them from the best festival in the world while they watch the drunken uncle trying to dance to Billy Ocean. :)

I used to have a cheap Sony Ericso had a long battery life but also had the Internet on it (or a very basic version of). Any ideas something similar? It's purely so I can use a bit of twitter to try and stay a float on any special events or secret sets etc.

I take a cheap Nokia but in all honesty it has only ever been useful back in 2009 when I text the wife to ask if Jackson was actually dead and not a festival wind up. Other than that, I text people and say 'meet you at the massive Glastonbury sign near Park' and then get a response six hours later

I have a cheap PAYG Samsung phone, not sure which one it is but it was about £10 from Phones 4 U.

It always seems to have full battery, probably because it can't do anything apart from phoning and texting.

    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
