Ideally I'd like to see Arctics there with either Jay Z or Eminem. Arctics are away in Japan on V weekend and I've not heard any talk of Eminem but hey, I live in hope. Apparently Jay Z is phenomenal live so I wouldn't mind seeing him there, but I do doubt that both him and JT will be there. To me it seems like having them both play on one day wouldn't be something V would do as both could be classed as headline acts in their own right - not sure if I'd class JT as headline material but after his most recent album I think most would. Having said that, I think having them headline separate days would be a mistake on V's part, I think it would alienate a large fraction of the audience and also have nowhere near as much pulling power as last years headliners IMO. I think its a case of one or the other and if so, I'm leaning towards Jay Z.

I don't see Lady Gaga playing, either. I don't think she's festival material at all, for some reason. As far as Kasabian go I've been avoiding them like the plague for some time - never really been a fan and I think there a multitude of indie bands with more appeal than them.

I'm hoping disclosure are there but I can see rudimental there playing a bigger slot. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tinie Tempah, Lily Allen, Avicii (apologies if I've spelled that wrong - not a clue!), Sam Smith (Critics choice 2014 winner), Bastille and Lorde playing. There's a lot of cracking little bands and artists emerging recently, I just hope V snap them up as opposed to X factor rejects. This could be a great year.

Also, do people think Live Nation becoming major shareholders in V will affect the type of lineup we get? I was thinking that they might go a little bit more indie as opposed to poppy, but then again I don't see why they'd change a sell out formula.

Disclosure are playing Reading so wont be playing at V

Artics are TBC for Reading on the efestival site, also a member on the R&L forum who has been correct many times in the past is claiming they are playing (he got Blink right earlier too)

However for smaller acts i agree that Sam Smith, Lorde and Bastille would be good for V, also think they might want George Ezra and Banks from the sound of 2014 list aswell

Oh I didn't think Arctics were TBC, thought they were just a rumor. Ah well, maybe next year!

I'd agree, I had George Ezra and Hozier in mind when I wrote that part but banks seems likely, now you mention it. :-)

I think One Republic are much bigger than Fun?

Both have only had 1 number one in the UK

Just seen One Republic are touring America with The Script, any chance they would be back? Dont know where they could play but V do tend to do repeat bookings :S They were good when I saw them last V but I would rather see someone else

Yeah, but Stop and Stare and Apologise made 4 & 3 in the charts, but we're absolutely huge at the time.

Reckon: Example, Tinie Tempah & Ruidmental will play....headliners Kasabian and probably the Killers yet again......

Hopefully The 1975 will play as well as Chase and Status/Nero

The 1975 are in Japan on V weekend playing Summer Sonic, so that has ruled them out.

Azealia Banks also ruled out too. http://www.summersonic.com/2014/

Wouldn't be surprised with Example, Tinie Tempah and Rudimental, Chase and Status.

I could see Kasabian back again, but surely not The Killers. 4 times in 8 years it would be?

Its a shame The 1975 arent doing V, maybe 2015? Not bothered about Azealia Banks.

I think One Republic will be there but I dont think they are seen as huge here. Obviously I am biased but its just my opinion. Example or Tinie subbed by Rudimental could be a good evening on 4music, with maybe Chase and Status on the other day headlining 4music. Maybe Example could be 3rd on main but I dont see Tinie doing that, dont know why but I could see Example on main but not Tinie

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
    • Additional dates added already
    • I feel like it's not COMPLETELY beyond the realm of possibility that they could headline but I just don't see it.    They're not doing anything other than headlining. So nah, I don't see it.
    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
