Why would they get The Libertines back though? They haven't released any new material since 2010 and even then the comeback hype only warranted a sub slot. That said though I'd love it to happen and I know a fair few others who would, I just can't see it realistically happening.

As for this years Reading, I did think Green Day was a little odd with the Emirates date, but Green Day are a goliath band and I think will shift a fair few tickets, particularly with the undercard for that day. I hate Eminem but he's still a worldwide star and I'd be surprised if his day didn't sell out. And Biffy Clyro, like them or not most certainly deserve that headline spot, they've worked hard enough.

Oh and the frontman for Bastille has monumental ego, all their videos star him and him only, when there's four of them? Plus their music really isn't to my tastes.

Oh come on they deserve to headline, been doing the rounds for years and now getting number 1 albums and playing arenas.

The headline pool is getting less and less year on year, if they didnt headline now they would never have.

I think reading has got it perfect(even though not a big fan personally) this year with having a new reading headliner, an act that been around for 10-15 years abd having a legendry act like green day.

They sold as many tickets as Kasabian did for their arena tour as far as i know. I don't see why their size is being questioned, they're definitely big enough in my eyes, especially as a "bump up" headliner.

Must admit Ive never got the libertines, although I have alot of time for pete doherty.

I actually think The Libertines is the only decent thing he's done. Wouldn't call myself a big fan but I like the stuff I know, and I'd see them at a festival. I always thought Babyshambles were poor, and his solo stuff I've heard hasn't been great. Opinions, eh?

When was the Emirates gig announced? Was it before Reading last year where Green Day made a secret appearance? If not, maybe Reading booked them for this year and Green Day decided to do the emirates gig as an extra pay day or something. I have no idea how the booking works, but in hinesight it looks strange if Green Day werent booked for this year after the secret set from last year, one of the only acts I actually watched from R&L I think it was on BBC red button at stupid o clock in the morning.

a lot of people on here or a lot out there?

even facebook and this page doesn't make up the majority of people that will be attending. Biffy should not be in a headline spot, I know there's the whole who would you give the chance but they just aren't there yet, their Radio one weekend show was nothing special at all.

Alot of people on the R&L Forum and from people I know that are going (only about 6 people but hey ho) I think Biffy are fairly deserving of the headline spot, and people will go to see them. Apparently they have alot of passion and stage presence so maybe that makes people want to see them more. I didnt see much of them at R1 weekend, but I saw a few pics and they were topless in the cold irish weather so they must be serious about putting on a decent show or whatever.

Yeah they play every gig topless, just one of those things that retains an image I guess. Except for last Summer when Simon Neil went through a phase of dressing up as a decorator for every gig.

Edit: But yeah they are a great live band, and I think they'll put on the best show of the three headliners. They've also put in the hard yards working their way up the lineup and deserve to be given the slot.

True they have worked thier way up in the years, and thats what TDCC have done in a way so maybe a headliner in a few years

Daniel said biffy have worked their way up and thats what tdcc have done and i was saying the difference is biffy have been working their way up longer

And mumford and sons have got extremely lucky with massive worldwide success which isnt usual for most bands, they are a bit of an exception

Yeah I said TDCC have worked their way up, they went from low main to subbing second stage, and now they are 4th on main at V fest, hence worked their way up

Mumfords werent just lucky they had two good albums, albeit sounding the same, so they werent just lucky they are popular

Biffy played Reading 5 times before TDCC were even formed. I know what you're trying to say but you can't really compare the two.

I can and I just did ;)

I know they had different trajectories but alot of bands come to fame quicker and easier, and only a few stay there and get the second album to be as successful and the first

Yeah but if a band gets fame quickly like Mumford, Two Door, it's not "climbing the lineup" in the same way as acts like Biffy have done it. Biffy didn't get any mainstream recognition until their 5th album, Two Door and Mumford both got it with their debut albums.

Although we're yet to see if Mumford's drummer (I think) recovers from this operation he's just had in time for Glasto

It's the bassist, and you don't recover from surgery to do with your brain in 2 weeks. I don't think they're going to play, and if they do the bassist will be watching from home.

It depends on how serious the operation needs to be. He might be okay if its a minor op but if its a bigger op they could either try to replace him or pull out. Wonder if they pull out they would still do T in the park

ah, yeah it seems doubtful, but you'd expect them to announce it now seeing as they've cancelled their US dates. They're either being really optimistic, or they've got someone else who can fill in for him.

He had a blood clot on his brain, I'm gonna assume that it was a pretty serious op

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
    • So for Harry Styles it was actually a plastic bag that basically blocks the view of the front and back cameras. You can still use the phone screen. It's much easier than using lockers, especially for people leaving for the last train etc    I think it's basically reliant on the threat of security kicking you out if you start filming.
    • Hey, does anybody have a joining link for the WhatsApp group plz? I know the secret sets get posted there but have a new phone and number
