Nick Cave vs. The Smashing Pumpkins

For me, the Pumpkins are one of the best bands of the past 30 years. Every album (pre-reunion) was unique and very special in it's own way. Such a consistent band, even their b-sides were as good as their a-sides. One of my all time favourite bands. Glastonbury will be very special for me, hopefully I can get time off work to go to Wembley too.

I like Nick Cave, but for me he doesn't come close to the Pumpkins.

Mr. Cave, no question. The pumpkins have done good staff in their day, but they really don't compare for me. The Bad Seeds have produced 'From her to eternity', 'Henry's dream', 'Murder ballads', 'The boatman 's call', 'Abbatoir blues', etc. etc. No contest.

a band at the top of their game who have just released an album arguably as good as anything they've ever done, with one of the most mesmerising front men of all time, and with one of the tightest bands around

or smashing pumpkins who released a couple of ok albums in the 90s which havent aged well, and with an absolute helmet for a front man

tough one...

It's strange but this clash doesn't bother me... but i am very excited to see EITHER Nick Cave or The Pumpkins. Guess i've seen both before and have (perhaps false) hopes i'll see both again. If i had to commit right now it would be Cave.

you'll get down the front for cave no matter what time you turn up, there'll be no bugger there

BUT you are aware they opened with Jubilee Street at Coachella right? You want to risk missing that song just to see some hasbeen play a couple of songs that remind you of your first kiss in the 90s??

Pull yourself together girl!

I know which side my bread is buttered on when I compare the facts. I own three Pumpkins albums and couldn't be arsed to get a ticket for their London gig. I own everything Nick Cave has done and queued for three hours in the snow to try and get touted tickets to his last London gig. And failed.

Still hate this clash though.

i don't think Nick Cave would have enough pull as a Other headliner (although i kind of think the same about Portishead - we shall see). it is a damn silly clash that should've been avoided, but ah well! i just hope both crowds aren't full of people waiting to see the headliners that follow them
