Tickets on eBay

It's been mentioned a few times about the council mystery shopping. What exactly are they looking for? I always understood the photo on tickets was voluntarily undertaken by the festival rather than a condition of their licence?

Just want to clarify why I'm uncomfortable with the posters stance on letting people in even if the photo doesn't match.

I too don't want people's weekend to be ruined and there ARE genuine reasons for people passing tickets on *for face value* to people who tried and failed to get tickets in the sale instead of wasting the money and I think that's fine...

...however...

The photo and registration exists to stop touts and make the tickets available to people who really want to go and are happy to put that little more effort in. If you start ignoring the photo and let everyone in then it makes a mockery of that and gives touts the green light to just buy as many tickets as possible and flog them on eBay for 4x the face value.

What I'd like to see is a fair trade way of doing this. Maybe Glastonbury could set up a trading site where people who were registered before the ticket sale could, with the supervision of the festival "authorities", trade a ticket and have a replacement with their photo passed on with the proviso that the original ticket is sent back to them.

I genuinely think this may be a future development, maybe at the moment the price of the festival policing and setting up this system is prohibitive, I dunno.

Maybe there's not the demand but I bet demand would be higher if people knew it would be available.

The only downside is that there could be more demand on ticket day due to the fact people know they can just transfer their tickets if they decide not to go.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
