I had an email from seetickets the other day it says:

Please be assured we have not forgotten about your order and your tickets will be despatched as soon as we receive them, normally 14 days prior to the event.

Tickets will be despatched as soon as possible, but may not be received until the week of the event. If you have not received your tickets in the post, please contact us no later than two working days before the show date at https://www.seetickets.com/CustomerService

Please do not contact us earlier as we will not be able to give you an exact answer until closer to the show.

I don't think that's a genuine sale at all-genuine ticket maybe but bought to make a profit. I'm a newbie and only know about the photo/registration/not selling on because of this forum and spending hours reading about it but the amount of people asking if they can buy a ticket on the facebook page/twitter is silly. So I'm guessing it'll be a few of them who've bid on it and don't really understand the comments in the listing r:e the photo.

Few of my mates have used other people's ticket quite a few times and have got in no hassel, infact I've never heard of someone being knocked back for using someone elses ticket.

Using ebay to buy a ticket is another story though, just got to take a chance and hope your dealing with decent people on there

Good thought, but ticket was sold 2 days ago. Although I don't know why the op thinks number of views on a threat in a Glastonbury forum means that people would buy a ticket. People are probably just viewing because it's the only thread where people are unlikely to discuss whether Daft Punk will play or not

  • 5 weeks later...

I have a friend who is going to buy a ticket (via GumTreet wanted) on Friday for Glasto. The seller sent a photo of the ticket photo and aside from my friend having to dye her hair I think she will be ok. Saying that it's not something I'd risk myself and have warned her of the consequences, the worst one being stuck miles away from home while I carry on in and party for 5 days!

Just wondered what people think that chances are? She is paying Face value in person so no funny business etc!

I said this before, it is a risk, but how bad does your friend want to go?

We tend to stay in Campervan area these days, more chilled, but does mean having to get through security more often. A party of 8 of us went in 2011, one didn't have his own ticket. He brought a ticket from a guy on this forum. True to the guys word, sent it in the post.. the funny thing about it was he looked nothing like him. twice a day for 5 days my mate had to get through security.

One thing I found amusing was walking down the hill of death on the Friday, security clocked us, either because we were a group of lads or looked generally shady.. (haha) and asked to search us... They had a good luck at all tickets and he still didn't get questioned...

If this lady is willing to give your friend ID then that would help, but she'd be wise to memorize DOB, name, address etc just in case, because they will ask those questions.

Best of luck

If the picture on the ticket could be mistaken for your friend, I expect she will have no problem. But be prepared if they are suspicious on the gate they may ask for the address and post code after she no longer has the ticket in her hand, so she will need to memorise it.

Just make sure the ticket and seller are genuine, you most probably have your ticket by now so use it as a reference. Also I would want to pick it up from the person selling it, although not at a convenient meeting place but their home, you need to be sure it hasn't been intercepted in the post and reported lost and as consequence cancelled. Other than that though it looks as though your friend has been very lucky, finding someone genuine who doesn't want to make a lot of profit is unusual (hence my suspicion). So I hope everything goes well for her and she has a great time.

I bought a ticket off someone on here in 2009, i got in trouble free, he sent me his driving license as well (which i subsequently lost! I did reimburse him though), but i didn't even need it in the end. He was a legend, actually sold me it a little under face value!

Oxfam and the other charity gate staff are tested most days with mystery "shoppers" by the council and it has been known to catch them out as they report back to the council that someone was let through with a dodgy ticket. I do know that the person who lets them through can be asked to leave the festival without their deposit so it can be a big risk to them. Me myself would not risk it.

The thing is though does people's ticket picture look like them now? Mine is going on for 4 years old now and I have probably changed quite a bit since it was taken and I am sure there are many other folk who now look quite different to their registered photo. I would say unless the ticket picture looks so much unlike the person that is trying to use it that it was blatently obviously a different person, it would be a pretty officious and (over?) confident checker to refuse admission.

I even had a passport photo once that looked nothing like me, taken when I was 20 stone with a shaved head you can imagine how similar it looked to me ten years later when I had lost 8 stone, grew my hair and had a beard. The photo looked like Buster Bloodvessel (from Bad Manners, not Ivor Cutler from The Magical Mystery Tour) and I didn't any longer, yet even when my passport was checked they just looked at me looked at the passport and often smiled while suppressing a laugh.

I did my Oxfam training last month & they said that Glastonbury was "mystery shopped" in 2011 and they failed 100%.

Although this made me laugh, they said that there will now be a supervisor at every gate so the worker just has to raise their hand if they're not sure about a ticket & the supervisor will take over.

I wouldn't know what the supervisor does at that stage though! ;)

I've worked wristbanding at the past few festivals and as long as the ticket and the human presented were of the same sex, then I let them through. I don't wanna ruin the festival for anyone and once i'd taken the ticket it presented no issue for the person.

Also, all these people claiming that they we would get kicked out and "deposit taken" if we let through someone who didn't match the ticket - no, the supervisors would have no way of knowing. I was working for FR and the only reason any money would be taken (you don't actually provide a deposit, just a photocopy of your debit card), was if you didn't turn up for any of your shifts or if you let people through without a ticket - ie just handing out wristbands with no ticket being taken. For every bag of 100 wristbands, we need to hand 100 tickets back to the supervisor.

Just to clarify as well there is no 'dodgy' ticket. I's an official ticket where the original buyer can't go (she broke up with her BF who is still going and she was the only female). My friend is willing to take the risk and has paid face value so no touting etc, no harm done in my eyes! Fingers crossed she just gets in though :)

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
