Was wondering if anyone takes there DSLR to the festival? Was thinking about taking mine this year, are the security fussy about anything bigger than a compact camera?

the camera is fine, but you might want to consider whether you want to spend your festival ensuring your nice camera is safe rather than enjoying the festival.

No problems with one. We take one, having had problems at other festivals and sporting events I emailed the festival. They said there was no problem as long as not for financial gain and that you respect the privacy of other festival goers. Yet again glastonbury proving how relaxed a festival can be and still be the best.

I got a cheapo, but still quite good, pocket digital camera a couple of years ago from Aldi for festivals. http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_26958.htm

OK so you're not going to get great close ups of bands performing, but do you really want those? It's great for just recording those little moments with friends and encounters that make the festival memorable and it just slips into a pocket the rest of the time.

I saw quite a few people with DSLRs/major lenses/tripods etc etc in 2010 - didn't notice anything like as many in 2011 for some reason (though that could be alcohol related!). Personally, I'll not be bringing mine - it's just too damn cumbersome and a handy little point-and-shoot will do for the pictures I tend to take.

I used to take my canon dslr (500d or something) and it was fine and robust without a case and not too heavy. Now I take a heavier film camera and lots of disposables for the drunken times. I see a lot of people with serious kit around the site, I'd just worry about leaving anything in the tent *just in case*

    • Currently obsessed with Slayyyter, but not sure either she would be a headliner ? Although in august 2024 Chappel Roan was at the same point : a breakout set at Coachella, a first appearance on a late night talk show in june, an incredible crowd at lollapalooza, numbers going up along the buzz. So who knows ?!
    • Is she any bigger than last time? Still firmly a sub for me. Not sure the interest would be as strong for her headlining.
