Had my time at Glasto?

Last year when there was no Glasto we went around all the festivals we could in Ireland North & South. We had a great time, met loads of great people and listened to bands we would never of heard off.

I couldn't see us ever missing Glasto, but we have tickets for 2013 and we (wife and I) just can't get the enthusiasm! - keep thinking we will not go, then imagine it on TV and not being there drives us crazy.

It's very expensive coming from NI, damn ferry crossing! and with that money we could go to so many festivals at home.

Just can't get into the spirit at all.

Time to give it a miss and let someone else have the tickets?

If you are certain that's quite noble of you. I know a few friends who will be trying for tickets in the re-sale so the more the better. However, if you'll be watching it on the Beeb and kicking yourself that you are not there then reconsider.

I think it's an inevitable thing for almost all of us that one day we will realise the festival is no longer something we want to attend.

As the festival changes, we as individuals change also. I know there will come a time when I dont fancy it anymore. I'm not there yet, but I know it will happen.

Looking at the amount of times you have gone I would advise not making a rushed decision. Watching on the BBC is nothing like the festival. When you are there you never know who or what you may see around the next corner.

But if you decide not to go I really hope you have a great summer.

I promised myself after the last one that, with a daughter on the way, I'd be leaving it for the foreseeable, but I've still gone and got a ticket! But the enthusiasm has definitely slipped and this could be the last

I think we all feel a bit like that at the moment, 2 years is a long time to wait, and we still don't know a great deal about what's happening this year. I think as the festival gets closer the excitement will start to build. We aren't far off getting some announcements now which will start building the excitement levels up a bit, such as the recent Shangri La news. Bands sill start self confirming as well

And Glasto always develops so I suspect there will be something entirely new for you to experience.which you will love. Well hopefully anyway

Wait until the last day before you have to pay your balance before you make any decision. You might regret it!

I think a big problem the festival (and all UK/Irish festivals) will face in the next decade will face is the trade off between balancing the cost of getting the right line up - and thus the ticket price itself in increasing competition with cheaper, foreign fests where the weather is less of an issue.

I'm doing the next 3, making 10 in a row, and then will prolly give it a miss for a few years. Glasto is always brilliant - highlight of the year - but when its cold and wet my "faith" is tested as I get older.

I think the miserable weather doesnt help.

When the suns out and its warmer glastonbury will seem much more exciting a prospect.

I think there are other festivals that are more "glastonbury" than glastonbury itself these days. So I'll end up going to one of those instead I reckon when I do finally give up on the big one

I think I will be going for at least another ten years but then I haven't gone every available year since my first, sometimes I go a few years for one reason or another, without attending.

Maybe that's the secret,if you go every year its bound to feel a little samey

After working over them at the years, I decided I wanted to go as a punter for a bit. So I did that from 2007-2011, but this year I never attempted to get a ticket, opting to go abroad for Exit again.

But I will be working it again this year, I might even do that for a couple of years and then go back as a punter to keep me interested and take it from there.

Thanks folks, will definitley be waiting until the last minute to make the final decision, but some great points on here.

If we picture the good times at Glasto it's always the nice hard lane ways and the sun is out, having a beer out in the open, sitting on our seats back at our camp, catching that wonderful moment that couldn't happen anywhere else (well at least not at a festival)

Maybe time to go look at past photo's to get some enthusiasm before we make a decision :)

The weather, other than money, is the main factor for me. After eleven festivals I just can't cope with mud for that many days anymore! Although I'm not going till Friday this year so even if it's muddy I should manage it

I was close to quitting after the last one. My friends all still have the thirst for it though so I can't miss out as its the highlight of our social calendar. Its our holiday together.

This is number 10 for me this year. If the weather is shite then it may be the last for a while. Especially if I can convince my friends to give somewhere else a go in 2014.

Saying that, I know that if im not there then when that weekend comes round I'm going to be totally gutted.

As you get older it's the sheer size of Glastonbury that makes it hard work. Getting on and off site, walking between the stages etc.

I enjoy the smaller festivals just as much these days (sometimes more). Womad, Beautiful Days, Solfest, Wilderness (of the ones I've been to) offer a more relaxed experience. Of course you don't get the variety of bands and types of entertainment at these places, but there's no doubt that Glastonbury is a pretty 'full on' few days.

We said that 2011 would be our last one, but we couldn't resist the lure of ticket day.
