Music you've only just discovered

Two albums that I'm really enjoying at the moment, with some similarities

North Sea Scrolls - this is a collaboration between Luke Haines (The Auteurs, Black Box Recorder etc etc), Cathal Coughlan (Fatima Mansions, Micrpdisney) and Andrew Mueller.

Underture 1612 - Really ace mixture of sort of electronica with Maxine Peake doing some spoken word stuff about Lancashire folklore over the top

Both really engrossing albums, not stuff that will instantly grab you, and definitely albums, not singles (that's why I've not posted YouTube links).

i saw Maxine Peake doing that stuff live this time last week. they came and performed for free in the bar before FC United of Manchester's last home game.

it took her a couple of numbers before the crowd started to listen, but it was fantastic stuff. she had us captivated, despite the awful sound. a great Lancashire day, despite getting hammered 0-4 in the subsequent match.

i have to confess though, i had absolutely no idea she is a famous actor! (i have been enlightened now).

ah, you an FCUM fan? Good work. Well done on that Sky vote the other week too. Got to say FCUM is a pretty fucking inspirational thing.

been attending since 2005, though i'm not a founder.

tbh, when we can have stuff pre match like we do, and did last week, i don't know why anybody would want to watch Sky telly anyway.

I genuinely think that FCUM and AFC Wimbledon are brilliant brilliant things. And FCUM are doing so well at consistently doing the right thing. I love it. Properly great stuff
