Anything that advertises itself as a gaming PC should be able to play most games out now. The issue is both in terms of future games and longevity of the machine.

The graphics card will be fine for a while, there's differences between them but ultimately it's a decent brand 1GB dedicated graphics card. My question given it's a prebuilt rig will be whether the motherboard can actually cope with any upgrades, as I expect the saving is made on getting a crappy motherboard that can only just cope with the stuff connected.

I wouldn't order from play anyway, I'd go to somewhere like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ or http://www.arbico.co.uk/ and speak to them about what you can get that'll suit your needs. I found Arbico incredibly helpful when I bought my last PC, which I've used as a base and just upgrade from. They'll discuss specs on about as technical a level as you'll need, and you can always check here if you feel they're pressuring for something you're not sure you'll need.

So it's a £35 graphics card that was already underpowered for gaming three years ago.

They benchmarked against Crysis, which is a high-end game, at a medium resolution and in low detail. It got 7 frames per second. Bear in mind 30 frames per second is something of an utter minimum, and 60 frames per second should be your realistic minimum.

So yeah. Their PC might be okay for surfing and watching films, but it's not much of a gaming rig.

Borderlands look decent, but the weird cartoony graphics put me off a bit.

I bought Crysis for £4.50 in the end. Not played it yet though as it took about 2 hours to download.

Also, if you don't already own it, the Orange Box is now £4.50. That is an absolute bargain for 4 quality games (and a multiplayer game that no-one plays). And XCOM is £15 today as well. Best game of last year,

So Ive seen a lot about the Wii U the past couple of days again and I just have to come in here again and say just how much Nintendo have fucked up.

I see Nintendo have spoken to investors and tried to ease the situation, but I see it getting worse not better.

Firstly they're saying they can't afford to sell the Wii U at a cheaper price.

Then Miyamoto confirms that they completely underestimated the time scale envolved in developing HD software and are only just now getting used to it

Thats what happens when you're a whole generation behind the other two, I mean, you see how PS3 and 360 games got better over time that means you're gunna be getting low end titles for a long time and Ninty usually only release one version of their franchise per generation so Smash Bros, Mario Kart etc are all gunna be below par what could be achieved, I mean I looked at Smash Bros around e3 time and it looked like it offered NOTHING the wii version doesn't do. It looked the same.

But this is the reason why Pikmin 3 is nearly a year late, and Smash Bros and Mario Kart etc aren't going to be released until AFTER PS4 and Xbox One are on the market, I mean these are Nintendos big games and the console released in 2012 and these only have a vague 2014 release date. No F Zero, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Metroid or any other big licenses look on the horizon either.

Then Itawa Nintys president just talks a load of bollocks, 3rd party developers are pessimistic about Wii U because they don't believe their software will sell, but when we release our big hitters then they will come back.

No. No they won't Itawa, 3rd party software sold very badly on wii, with a much higher installed user base than Wii U will EVER have, Ubisoft were your main supporter with exclusive licenses like Red Steel which did ok, but they tried to support Motion Plus with Red Steel 2 and the game bombed, and then they withdrew.

AND it appears history is repeating itself Ubisoft have just confirmed there will be no ZombieU 2 because the first game didn't make a profit ''Not even close''

EA have withdrew, Activision are releasing Call of Duty Ghosts but I bet its the last Call of Duty game to get released for it. Ubisoft will only end up releasing just dance games and maybe a Rayman game if they can be bothered, they already withdrew it as an exclusive and made it multiformat, the next thing the multiformat games won't include wii u.

Why does Itawa say 3rd party games didn't sell well on wii u? because they were ports and avalible on other consoles. Im sorry but thats not gunna change, NO company will make a exclusive to wii U because it won't make them money, like they say they didn't release how much time and effort and money goes into making HD games, 3rd party developers do, because they've been doing it for years on other formats, they won't put their resources into your soon to be dead product. Nintendo have no-one to blame but themselves, they treated their hardcore fanbase like shit and just re-release old titles at full price and shovelware. Poor online support, shocking shop service, treated indie software companies like shit during the wii. Now they need to rely on 3rd party and its too late.

Nail in the coffin for me, im just shocked Nintendo are admiting just how dumb they have been in regards to the wii U. But Itawa still states they have the upper hand because of remote play, sorry but PS4 every game will do this. And the software support will be MUCH greater.

When Sega died it was because they tried pushing the envelope too soon, internet play, huge developement costs on games like Shen Mue, Ninty its completely the opposite, behind the times, but one thing that killed/will kill both, lack of 3rd party, and when Activision join EA in not supporting the machine, Ninty. You're done.

I just hope they're planning beyond the wii U already. Because they need to.

All Nintendo had to do was line up a dozen franchises, and make fucking new ones. I can't believe they still had no compelling exclusive system seller at launch. Every Nintendo console has launched with something fascinating and interesting at launch.

They are sitting on a ridiculous gold mine of IP: Metroid. Pilot wings. Mario. Zelda. Mario Kart. Excite bike. Pokemon. Wave Race. Wii Fit. Smash Brothers. Have any three of those as launch titles and that's it - it's a smash hit. Sod third party support - people buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games.

It really wasn't hard! Even a Wii U Sports thing would have done. A shitty new Duck Hunt would have been SOMETHING.

Even a Mario Galaxy 3 would have been better than Mario World U or whatever that is. Is Mario Galaxy going to be the last proper Mario that felt like proper progression was taking place? I get the feeling it might be.

What are they doing? What the hell?

Even just re-releasing all of the Wii's best content in HD would have been enough for some extra sales.

Where's all the virtual console stuff? Why the hell can't you get all of the old Game Boy games for the screen already? They are so slooooooow with this shit it's unreal. Missed a massive trick with the emulator there - even if the Wii U was nothing more than a Nintendo museum so people could indulge in nostalgia at a decent price people would buy it for that. Every gamer on the planet would probably love a proper Nintendo museum and not have to always rely on cracked consoles running ROMs. But instead they chose a slow trickle of too few classic titles and it's hard to tell what's coming out and when. It's all too much hassle to keep track of. It should have been packaged meticulously but it seems like they're a bit arrogant and a bit scatterbrained at the moment.

the museum concept is spot on, surely there could be an official emulator that ships for free via download, and games "sensibly" priced via download and you would sell a shitload of software with no dev costs at all, you could have good online multiplayer where it suited the game. nes snes gamecube and wii games for the console, and gba and ds games for the tablet. some of the games could be sold at ios prices - 99p to £9.99 for example

but they really missed the boat at launch, i said it a few pages ago - I dont believe a game like ssbb would take that long to knock out, or even a mario kart. and 2 or 3 big name launch titles would have made a massive difference. the wii-u has surely been under development for a couple of years - dont tell me they couldnt have had devs working on those titles 2 years ago.

I have a Wii U and I like it. But at the moment it's used for Zelda Skyward Sword and a few virtual console games. They desperately need to show that some big Nintendo heavy hitters are coming. Promote the new Mario and Mario Kart, tell us a new Zelda's coming, bang a new Donkey Kong out!

Sadly my Wii U is waiting for Nintendo games that seem a long way away.

The problem with Ninty is they have limited resources, the team working on Wii U Mario Kart had to finish the 3DS Mario Kart first and they needed help from Retro to do it and the same goes with Smash Bros that team had to finish Kid Icarus first and are grabbing help from Namco to finish the new ones. Keep in mind 2-3 years ago the 3DS looked like a flop so they had to turn around and knock out some big hits for that as losing ground in the home console market is the norm for them now but the handheld market with they dominate would of been a serious fuck up.

I'm always tempted by a Nintendo console but as been said there's no killer games for it yet tho Zombie U looks good, if Bayonetta 2 and the new Zelda, Mario & Mario Kart games turn out to be must haves then I may get one but if not I'm happy not to get a home console. TBH the 3DS currently has everything I want in both home and handheld consoles, there's 8 very different games that coming out in the next 12 months that look like must haves along side the huge back catalogue. The only thing I wish they do is to not charge £5-7 for original Gameboy games on the eshop and to make full releases of games like Yoshis Island which they have already ported to the 3DS but gave away free to the early adopters.
