Kendal Calling 2013

If people had to choose an area to improve in the festival where would it be ? I think we can take the toilet situation as a given !

Altthough my daughter's a bit older and more easily amused now I do think that the family friendly focus should be looked at, there didnt seem an awful lot for kids to do other than collect beer cans for money to pay their way at the festival ! Some decent activities or an area specifically for kids would be an improvement. There were areas on the outskirts of the festival where I'm sure some sort of children's area could be set up, the bit next to the 60s shop and the tent advertising the monster show (or something like that) was probably the most unvisited area in the whole festival, with no reason to visit it. With a bit of planning and fencing the area off I'm sure it could be adapted a bit.

Ha ha, you could have a point ! At least the Scots aren't as deluded as us tho, after every win its the old 'we can win the world cup' routine.

It's more a case of patience an luck getting tickets for Glastonbury, I'm up in Scotland as well right now when I get back home I'll pm u both with what you'll need to swap an how the ticket buy works.

Lets just move on from the football talk ( I`ve to go back for more of that tomorrow night ). Stupid game anyway !! Just got the e-mail confirming prices and kids under 12 going free. I`m up for giving it a shot but as mentioned will need to rely on you and lochland keeping me right. Silly question time... How will I know when I`ve been pm`d ??

Thanks again. Yeah I`ve got it sussed now. I note I have used 0% of my quota ( 50 messages ) so we should be ok to get the ticket plan up and running !

Meanwhile back at Kendal....anyone any views on my Ocean Colour Scene prediction - 2013 tour in Glasgow in February. Thought Shed7 were quality this year and OCS for me would fit perfect into that slot.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
