Rocking up on the Wednesday

Heading to Reading with a couple of mates, and I was wondering something. Obviously we got our weekends tickets ages ago, but we weren't sure whether to drop the £15 on an early entry ticket, and now they're sold out. I've heard a few stories of people turning up on Wednesday without an early entry ticket and being let in a few hours after the people with EE tickets are let in, or in the early evening.

I was wondering how much truth there was to that. We don't mind waiting around for a bit as long as we still get in on the Wednesday. Seems like you can't buy an early ticket now for less than £30, and i'm not sure we're willing to pay that much, but it would be brilliant to get an extra day of Reading even if it's just soaking up the atmosphere and having a laugh. Means we get a final decent sleep as well, I got up horrendously early on the Thursday last year and wished I'd got an EE ticket.

Oh, and on a similar note, do I need to get a car parking ticket in advance or can I just drive in and buy one as I go through? Green parking permits are going for £20+ on ebay, and f**k that to be quite honest.

You can tell I'm not a very organised person...

Thanks for any answers.

I very much doubt they'll let you in.

Theres me and 6 mates going this year, and one of them hasnt got an EE. Hes either going to try and blag his way in, buy 1 outside if there not too overpriced, or sleep in my car until gates open in the morning!

Try & find someone who genuinely has a spare EE pass. They can be found & in the past are usually selling them for face value so they can get rid & get back to their mates to get pissed.

Edit-

Tbh I'm going EE this year so I can do a Tesco run on the Thursday but the last time I went early I was bored shitless all Thursday until things kicked off in the evening.

Result, managed to grab some early entry tickets on ebay for a couple of quid over face value!

Am I right in thinking you can turn up at around midday on Wednesday and usually they'll let you in? It says 6pm on the ticket but i've heard that they tend to open the gates many hours before that.

Last year they opened up at 2, to be honest though we're not going to turn up til about 5, we queued for hours in the rain last year and girls that camped next to us said they walked straight in a couple hours later. Tonnes of camping room everywhere still anyway.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
