second wasn't off, not under the current rules.

Not sure I'd go as far as saying last weeks Carroll goal was perfectly legitimate though. One of those you sometimes get, and I probably need to see it again, but felt at the time there was enough of a push to warrant the call. Ferdinand's going to deal with it pretty easily without that, and whilst can't completely remember, hadn't Ferdinand already left the ground aswell, so no purchase on the ground to be able to push against it?

I still dont understand why mereiles is behind henderson in the pecking order, I watched liverpool a lot last season and was always impressed with mereiles. I think he is comfortably a better player than henderson, who I feel maybe moved a year too early. I hope for liverpools sake mereiles isnt shunted further down the order when gerrard is back as I feel he is potentially one of the best in the league in his position.

No. But big Andy is struggling to fit in a bit. Still unlucky because he played alright and scored a perfectly legit goal last week. He looks painfully unfit though.

however fit he is, I'm now thinking for definite that he's never going to get close to justifying that huge fee.

But all the same I think it was still a very shrewd buy. If they'd bought no-one or someone cheap back in January then I just can't see how they'd have managed to get any other decent players in this summer, because they'd have been seen as a 'selling club' rather than the big club that they undoubtedly are and who are back on the rise.

There's a rumour in one of the papers today that Mierelese(sp?) is going to Chelsea with Sturridge going to Liverpool. If that's the case (and with Chelsea supposedly buying another striker it looks like it could be) then I reckon that's going to be their best signing of the lot bar Suarez - they still need a dedicated goal-getter (which isn't Carroll) and there's few strikers around who are going to hit the heights that it looks like Sturridge is going to reach.

The downside is losing Mierelese(sp?) who is defo a very good player, but with all the midfielders LFC have right now I guess they can lose one.

What did you think to Martin Kelly? I think he looks like a real prospect - I'd play him over Johnson every time, very tidy at the back, and even managed to get forward and run onto a Carroll lay-off.

Very promising player indeed.

he looks superb - just as he did last season before he got injured. He's defo better than Johnson.

Congrats to you lot for being top of the league - I bet you never thought that would happen?

That's 15% of the points you need in just 5% of the games. While you won't carry on at that rate it's a great start and is sure to give the team more confidence. After just those two games I retract my guess at you going down, you shouldn't have any problems.

Unless perhaps you lose Doyle, which today's papers suggest you might. But while he's more than decent I can't really see why Liverpool would want him: they need a real goal-scorer rather than another forward player.

Putting aside the possibility that Mereiles is going to go (there's been rumours that he believes that Liverpool have stitched him up over his contract), then it seems to be the case that Kenny is settling the new players in rather than 'dropping' Mereiles and others.

It's impossible to know what the plan is, but it might be the case that Kenny sees this season as a building block rather than any sort of drive for the top of the league, and if that's the case then I reckon he's probably going about it in the right way. While it's likely to mean dropped points at this end of the season it should result in stronger finish from a very settled squad, which should set them up nicely to go for it next season.

Not so sure I agree with that entirely. While I do agree,in my opinion, there wasn't enough of a push from Carroll. There was contact but I felt Ferdinand mistimed his jump.In an instance like that if there was enough contact to make a difference you would see Ferdinand's back arch from the contact but that wasn't the case.

I despise Liverpool, for no real reason if honest they are just that team for me,but I thought they were really unlucky in that game.

Edit:Reading that post back its not eloquently written or entirely grammatically right but to wasted to correct. Will do tomoz.

Inter using the Eto'o money to bid for Kaka. 20 odd million. Great buy for Inter, and Kaka, if true although I'm not sure if he would go considering his loyalty to A.C.

People forget that he was the best player in the world around 07/08 time.

Chelsea may have a look. And City I presume.

I think 2 games in is a bit early to make judgements on players, there are many average left backs who have neutralized the inconsistent walcott. Its certainly a solid start from enrique and 4 points is probably what liverpool would have expected from those 2 games. I hope enrique does end up a great signing as the more teams challenging the recent man u and chelsea domination, the better in my opinion. Im very impressed how dzeko started the season, I was tempted by the 20-1 odds for golden boot at the start of the season and its hardly changed with his good start. I wonder if he is one of those players who needs 6 months to settle and then explodes.

It's Aguero and Silva that are the main two that concern me though. Both were my first choices on here for how to spend the "ronaldo money" back in 2009. Should be 3 or 4 posts in the archives of me positing that they'd be great to get. Fantastic players. :(

Not sure where Kaka would fit in yeah. Remains to be seen what sort of player he is now. He'll never lose his shooting power though. Has a right old hammer on him. Fantastic passer of the ball too. Very intelligent player.

    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"
