I still have a funny feeling for chelsea nicking 4th place, Think tonight could be the big one. If they can beat liverpool I think they can do it.

revised prediction

1 city

2 united

3 spurs

4 chelsea

5 arsenal

6 newcastle

That would take lots of results all falling the right way with scores .... so I'd say that if Chelsea are going to get 4th it's probably more likely they'd get 3rd, because they're likely to pick up the goals to get above Spurs.

My guess is that the top 4 will stay as they are, but with Chelsea getting above Newc.

If Arsenal do get 3rd that'll be a huge turnaround for them. Just about everyone thought they were dead and buried before the end of August, and even after the late signings of Arteta & Yossi most people didn't think they'd turn it around. But they're not there yet, tho I'm betting they're hugely pleased that getting 3rd is back in their hands after Spurs dropped points again at the weekend.

Feel bad for any team who goes down but Blackburn don't deserve to stay up. A couple of spineless performances in important games. Compare that to Wigan, who have pulled off an absolute miracle. So well done to them.

I dunno. The fans haven't created a great atmosphere but the owners have just taken a stable club and fucked it into the ground. The fans protests against the owners are justified for the long-term future of the club.

I would blame the owners for their relegation more than the fans...

There might not be an obvious solution

There is, but no one does it in the upper leagues. Instead the fans would rather let others take the risk and so also the blame. ;)

One day, clubs might again be clubs and not businesses. The advantages of that are massive, but people would far rather pay over huge amounts for their tickets. It's madness.

When we had a clueless owner come in, sack Sam Allardyce, appoint an idiot (ok, he then drove him out before appointing another), we kept our protests when the players weren't on the pitch. Still got relegated, but keep the protests and abuse to the rest of the week, not the 90 minutes you should be supporting the team.

Not to the same level. And not abusing the clueless idiots who'd been given the job of keeping us. Not even Kinnear and his ugly football.

I'm not saying Blackburn fans are wrong to protest, but the way they went about it, and the extent of the abuse was off IMO. Not got any more sympathy for them than for others.

Sacked Big Sam when he had them mid table, replaced him with his number 3 who had never managed before, told tall tales about buying Ronaldinho and never having to sell their best players and then sold Jones to Utd and would't let Kean spend the money from that sale, let Samba go, binned Salgado because another appearance would have triggered a contract extension. And so on.

Agree to most of this apart from the not letting Kean spend money. He has spent the best part of 20mil (Biggest budget we have had since the days of Jack Walker) on players who havent even been given much of a chance apart from Dann and the Yak

So who made predictions at the beginning of the season then? Here's mine.....

And to kick off, I'll start with some predictions....

Aldershot to win League Two ... they better bloody do with the best manager. tongue.gif

Sheffield Wednesday for League One.

Reading, Leeds & Leicester to get promoted from the Championship.

Wolves, Swansea & Wigan for the drop from the Prem.

And a top four of Utd, Shitty, Arsenal and Liverpool (not necessarily in that order).

So place your bets on something entirely different to those if you want to coin it at the bookies. tongue.giflaugh.gif

Award yourself 10 points for getting any of the top, promoted or relegated teams spot on, and 5 points for naming a team but in the wrong position for those top/promoted/relegated positions.

So mine...

0 points - Aldershot to win League Two ... they better bloody do with the best manager. tongue.gif

5 points - Sheffield Wednesday for League One.

10 points - Reading, Leeds & Leicester to get promoted from the Championship.

5 points - Wolves, Swansea & Wigan for the drop from the Prem.

15 points (probably) - And a top four of Utd, Shitty, Arsenal and Liverpool (not necessarily in that order).

35 points. Poor.

To be fair the site says its just about generating discussion. I mean there are so many factors involved, eg suspensions, timing of the incorrect decision, but also every minor error results in the game being different to if the error hadnt been made, so its impossible to predict the impact these errors have made.

What the league does show to me, is to say the league table doesnt lie is a bit simplistic. There are several factors that determine league position, clearly team perfromance is the greatest factor but luck, refereeing decisions and the fixture list (in terms of certain teams resting players before certain games) are clearly factors as well. When you think that many things in football are determined by a 3 point or less gap, this gap is clearly not enough to be certain it is other factors which decided the factor rather than the teams performances.

I'm the Wolves of predicting football stuff.

lol .... tho you can't have a worse record than me. Normally when I post predictions I say to bet on the opposite - cos that's always more likely to be the result.

Think I made a few but I'm so so wrong I'm not even going to bother digging.

I've just dug for you. :P

1. Man Utd

2. Man City

3. Chelski

4. Liverpool

5. Arsenal

6. Spurs

Top scorer Hernandez. (Great bet by the way, 9-1 in some places)

Not too bad for the teams, in the right ball park as much as anyone's have been for this season I reckon.

But the top scorer was more than a bit off. It might have helped if he'd played more than a handful tho.

    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
