Terry to be stripped of the captaincy, sensible move in reality.

Not sure there is an obvious candidate to replace him, looking at the senior internationals.

Rio - Not sure he will make the squad

Gerrard - Hasnt played international football for a while, hardly an inspirational captain at the last world cup.

Rooney - The fact he misses the first 2 games will probably work against him.

Lampard - May not make the squad

Barry - Not very good and completely uninspiring.

Imagine Gerrard will get it, which will at least give me some interest in the national team I suppose.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty so he probably should.

Perhaps so. Still can't personally see them doing anything if the police find him not-guilty. Although they should. Ah well. that's an issue for July.

Just seen Ferdinand has ruled himself out. Nailed on Gerrard I think then. Although I'd be tempted by Hart.

The trouble with gerrard is I cant see him being an england regular in world cup 2014, in fact he may retire after the the euros. i would have thought best thing is to get a bit of a stability, however england dont seem to have many top players in the 25-30 age range.

Find it funny how I have heard some on the radio say capello had been undermined by having his choice of captain taken away. He was the idiot who insisted on giving a player who is constantly followed by contreversey the captaincy back in the first place.

Could be the time in giving ghe captaincy to someone brand new, would give them experience of a najor tournament before world cup.

Would be a good time as the likes of gerrard, terry, rio and lamps are bound to retire after euros. Like someone said hart woukd be a good call. Maybe rooney would have the same impact on his maturity like it did with becks.

Quite right aswel any racists players or fans should be driven out of the game.

Used to live in openshaw and the bigotry is like the uk in the 70s/80s. There is a lot if pubs which are either city or united pubs, made the mistake popping out for a pint in my man utd top in a city pub..not my best idea.

It's far far more than just those two clubs, as all but the most dim (hello Barry) will know.

In the years I've been in Bristol I've experienced on occasion Bristol City fans quite happy to express strong racist views very openly. How typical they are of City fans I've no idea, but it's not like the racist ones don't exist.

(If any City is offended by that truth, I'm sorry, but it is the truth. If any City fan wishes to pick me up on that and say it's not true, I can easily point them to a place where they can see it for themselves sooner or later).

There's no way, based on Terry's form this season, that he was an automatic choice for the first team anyway, so at least stripping him of the captaincy means Capello doesn't have to play him.

Get Gerard in. Experienced, respected (amongst players), kind of man you want leading the camp with all this shit going on, then when Capello quits after the tournament the new manager can pick their own captain and start building their own team, with Hart being my choice.

Question would be, who would be first choice? Terry no, rio no, upson no, cahill no. Lescott is a bit lke rio. Hes good when vidic is there, bit like lescott is when kompany is there.

Hart could be a decent shout, for all gerrards qualities in my opinion he has been pretty much a flop at international level, particularly in big games. At least Hart isnt tarnished by previous campaigns.

If this was the case do people think they would really have the likes of barry, lescott, milner etc. There are several factors why this isnt true eg not having big lub reputation, some players not wanting to live in northen england and strength of barca/madrid.

Its all about building a team though isnt it? Although they have tried to buy a fair few more world class players, but have been turned down. Of course this could change if they continued with there mini success, although it will take 50 years to have a name like madrid, barca, liverpool, united, jeventus, milan clubs etc etc.

when you get the choice of real madrid, barcalona or man city your not going to choose city are you? The likes of silva and aguero wont be there long term, which will be interesting with the fair play rule. They cant really go and spend like they have done in the last 5 years, when mourinho had all the chelsea money he didnt go out and but the world stars but built a team.

Been tried at real madrid and the galictos era and didnt really work. In that respect city have done it the right way.
