Was that in reference to me Biffoire? If it was, that's not what I said, I called Neil out for making a claim that Queen wouldn't sell well, and possibly sell so poorly the festival would be cancelled for future years, which was a massive assumption. I just said that in 2010 even with Download selling out completely at max capacity, and with Sonisphere only being a 2 day festival essentially, it sold 2010, so I can't see how 3 headliners would struggle to sell out a 60k festival and I imagine they'd at least match 2010. So learn to read, yeah? All you do is come on to this board to make smart arse remarks/try and put the festival down at every turn, yet people call me blinkered :sarcastic:

The 3rd headliner will be one of Green Day, Kiss, or GNR I reckon. More than likely one of the latter 2 due to Metal hammer saying we have 2 classic headliners this year. But time will tell, I know for a fact Evanescence aren't headlining. Apparently the delay was down to 2 headliners having a bit of an argument over who gets to headline a specific delay, could be why Queen are no longer at Sonisphere France, like was initially leaked.

there was more to me saying that than you've detailed (and perhaps I said at the time).

A part of the problem is that there's not enough acts to support two heavier fests - as Soni have found out this year.

my belief is that Queen were never ever in the running for Soni France.

I posted as much yesterday somewhere (it might have been in a R/L thread).

Why I have no specific info for that, I've said that as a deduction I've made from some other very solid info.

I wouldn't rule Evanescenceout of headlining either. Desperate circumstances might have meant desperate measures.

But yeah, when I hear comments like 'sonis (unannounced) undercard will kick dls arse' and 'any fest would kill to have Queen and adam x' and 'fnm are a MASSIVE draw' and 'ticket sales will at least be this.' i feel the need to restore some balance. (often by taking the piss)

And hey, this year it's download I'm going to and soni I'm ragging on, next year it might be the other way round. ;):D Anyway, I'm off to learn to read. :P

I didn't say any of that though did I? Other than any festival would kill to have Queen, which I stand by, even without Freddie, they are the 7th biggest selling band of all time, and with Paul they sold out stadiums, outdoor events etc...with ease, so it wasn't without justification, was it?

Did I say FNM were a massive draw? Did I say tickets will definitely sell at least this many? No. I said I imagine if they can sell 50,000 tickets with essentially 2 headliners, then I can't see 3 selling worse. I wasn't saying, they will definitely sell this amount of tickets. So yeah, that's why I was saying learn to read. I also didn't say it's undercard kicks Download's arse, nor did anyone. So come off it.

Anyways, Evanescence aren't headlining, that much I'm sure of. From what I've heard Kiss are the 3rd headliner after all, after all that will they/won't they tour. Also Alice Cooper is on tour with Maiden in July, he won't be at knebworth

yeah, but yopu've also said that you'd heard Queen with AL were doing France.

The info I've had has so strongly suggested that was never on the cards that I can't believe you're getting accurate info.

(That doesn't mean you're necessarily wrong about that, after all, they have to have someone. But your info isn't as good as you're believing).

Is it bad that I really wouldn't mind if Evanescence headline *embarrassed*. I reckon it would be much better than bands like Kiss.. Evanescence were the band who got me started on heavy music. They led me to KoRn who led me to Kerrang TV who led me to SOAD.

    • NIN and Bjork for sure 😉
    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
