At boardmasters they have SO much freebies its quality. I came away with food, drink, ponchos, sandals, inflatables, hats, and a tonne of other crap with jaegermeister on them.

There was even a mass aero fight at one point as they were being handed out for free. The best things in life ARE for free :P

The communal showers are an absolute God send at Benicassim and the Water Park opposite the site ain't too bad either!

As far as English festivals go, they had a Dominos at Leeds last year and pizza is the one thing that Glastonbury just doesn't do very well.

@lostriot, yes, that's just the point I was making, that cup return schemes such as at Reading both make for a cleaner site and also reduce cleanup costs, it would mean less people ME is allowed to sneak in through the back door on the cleanup crew though :(

The best answer is the festival glass, I think (except it's not glass, it's plastic), just rock up to the bar with a "fill this up", pay the man and on your way. When it's empty hang it on a lanyard or something.

I never understood why ME always stated that a cup deposit scheme like Reading would be too complex to implement when the WBC administer the bars at both festivals. I'm sure glastoworker could fill us in on the details better, but I'd assumed that the people dishing the cash to people with cups were also WBC workers. I also read that this scheme was ending at reading, but don't know whether this has happened yet or not. Shame, imo.

At reading as well they had a scheme where one recycling bag filled with empty cans could be exchanged for a beer token. Again, another positive initiative. I was always led to believe that Reading was all about tent burning and teenage morons, when I got there I found that there are some things they do better than glastonbury and not all clichés are true (it was still largely tent burning but the teenagers turned out not to be morons, they turned out to be like younger versions of you and me out to have a good time)

Total absence of stress getting tickets.

No queue to get in.

Just a shorty stroll from car park to camping.

Stunning location.

Virtually no litter.

No mud baths.

Very reasonably priced good beer.

Communal fire pit.

Just a couple of minutes walk between stages.

to name but a few

    • Lots of great stuff today, but Chelsea Wolfe in the Auditori was particularly excellent! Ethel Cain was sat two rows in front of us and was bouncing up and down when she got a song dedicated to her. Always nice to see artists catching each others shows.
    • Mount Kimbie were really good. Great Sound, great crowd. A nice way to end this day.
    • Yeah what was up with Jai. Not great tbh. Would like to hear other opinions bc I didn't really like him
    • Ethel Cain and Brutus to bookend the day were my highlights. Had been listening to Brutus a bit over the last few weeks and had no clue the vocalist was the drummer, insane workload! Ethel was just other-worldly, and even managed to shut the yappers in the crowd up.   Lana was late, flat, but I was stood near the back and away from the masses and it was alright. Ocean Boulevard stood out, not least because her backing singers seemed to know how to perform better.    Even stuck around for most of The National and really enjoyed a band I've never got on board with before. Just so much good music happening!
