Getting booze into the festival

It depends on how much money you wanna spend or save really.

Decant a load of spirits into some 2L empty bottles saved up a few weeks before the festival. Bring with you unopened carbonated mixers. Decant spirits into fresh soft drink bottles each day. Viola!

If it is hot then its worth buying the odd cooler drink from one of the bars - remember to stock up on the water too!

As mentioned above, its the carrying it that's the issue. A few bottles of spirit and mixers are a lot easier to carry than a few cases of beer, I know this from experience.

A bit concerned as am training it down, but then clothes aren't as important as drink.

If you put vodka into water bottles the only real issue is when you take a swig from the wrong one.

This ^^ Going home on the coach last year, boyfriend is gasping for thirst and takes a massive swig from the full bottle of water we thought we had in the bag...... BIG mistake...it was vodka poor love

Isnt it easier just to buy your mixers at the festival rather than suffering horrific warm flat premade shite?

A few litres of rum in water bottles carried in, and cold cokes bought on site. Job done for this whopper.

I put spirits into plastic bottles, then bring these very sturdy plastic jack daniels cups we got at primavera.

Pour into the cup buy a cold mixer, job's a good un.

Also bring some frozen fruit juice kept in the cool bag, makes a good mixer.

That said I do remember during Orbital last year having my eyes out at an ice cream truck. £4 for 2 bottles of sprite that were actually HOT to the touch

Just been getting ready for Rockness today and have poured a bottle of vodka into a washed out 2l coke bottle and topped it up with long-life fresh orange. The plan is to buy some cold lemonade on site to make it a bit more drinkable. Don't normally bother pre-mixing so this is a dry run for Glastonbury

I had hope to solve this by getting some Co-op own brand vodka which was reported as being sold in a 35cl plastic bottle! No such luck at the local!

Some sort of hip flask is looking more and more likely.

And Mount Gay! I haven't heard that one in a while!

Asda sell 35cl vodka pouches like the Capri Sun ones (the screw cap ones). I bought one for a gig recently and it fittned nicely into the crotch...and I even got a quick search!

I've just bought some eco style pouch things of vodka from Asda that are about 6 pound each, they've got whisky and rum ones too. Thought that'd be easier than having to transfer a whole bottle of vodka into plastic bottles!!

Russy and Robith have it. Take the spirits, buy the mixers there. I can't figure out why you would premix, it'll be flat as arseholes and warm, and most importantly add to the weight you have to lug in.

Lots of things to mix it with, fresh orange juice to go with your vodka means you fool your body in thinking it's had a healthy breakfast, there was a stall in Dairy last year selling pints of lime squash for a quid or something, lovely with gin or vodka. Banana milkshake with some rum in it, the possibilities are all there.

Taking vodka to mix with various cold softies bought on site. Also a plastic bottle of baileys to use as milk for coffee in the morning, some mezcal my mate brought be back from Mexico, and two red wine boxes.

The mezcal and vodka will be decanted into thermos flasks having been frozen overnight. Stays cold until sat night, even last year!

Gonna be messy!

PS, I can't think of anything you couldn't decant into a suitable plastic bottle.

Try to pour in such a way that it doesn't splash around too much -- the more you splash, the more oxygen it's exposed to.

If it's a fizzy drink like beer or cider, then pour *very* gently, to avoid losing fizz. That's probably more work than it's worth, given that you can buy these drinks in cans/plastic anyway.

Dunno about sparkling wine. Not something I'd take to a festival.

ooh interesting...i was gonna take some ribena frozen ice cubes and stick them in a thermos to mix with vodka or cider, do you think they will stay frozen for a couple of days at least?
