What to drink?

I was always a massive cider drinker but due to TMI reasons I've been off the apples for a while now, and I have no idea what I'm going to drink at Glastonbury. I need your help to decide what to take!

Usually when I go to the pub nowadays I drink rosé or white wine, but those taste kinda crap when warm. Red wine's not an option (horrific hangovers) and I don't drink beer or vodka (other spirits are OK but I don't like Coke...I'm so fussy!)

I might risk a bit of cider (Brothers may just prove too tempting) but it could put me out of action if I do

Any clever thoughts on what I can imbibe to keep myself in the Glasto spirit??

Sailor Jerry's Spiced rum with cranberry - tastes like Drumstick lollies :-)

Morgan's Spiced Rum with apple juice tastes like apple pie - excellent if you are allowed/want to drink apples but not of the cider variety.

Margarita/pina colada/Manhattan premade cocktails from M&S, Sainsburys, Asda etc (warning, unless you water them down with a bit more suitable mixer, they are fairly strong - the same as a bottle of wine, similar price though.)

Alcoholic ginger beer or try and make your own? Sounds a bit of a faff but worth it in the long run.

What about Gordons Sloe Gin?

There are a whole host of new spirits on the market now ranging from ginger liqueur to English vodka made from potatoes left over from making Tyrrell's crisps (Chase Distillery - THE best vodka on the planet currently (international award winning) and now available at Snozburys, doesnt taste of anything, super clean and clear and highly recommended, certainly NOTHING like manky Smirnoff).

What about fruit wine? Look at the Lurgashall Winery and Biddenden websites or just head over to the Pennards Wines stand on the walkway out of the bottom of Avalon walking to the Greenfields main road.

Mead? Although that is super squiffy making.

Tuaca is lovely when mixed with ginger and fresh limes.

Premix cocktails yourself and bring with?

Get on the Spicey Train!! Choo Choo!! Morgans Spiced with lemonade. As for keeping it cool, that's the eternal battle unless you have a freezer box or similar. Last year I found a big insulated foil freezer bag in some cheapo shop, that would keep things cold and kept my cans cool (in my boiling tent) through till the Saturday evening/Sunday morning.

You can always try those pre-mixed cans e.g. G&T, Whisky & Lemonade etc.

Otherwise, people seem to like the idea of getting those cheap boxes of wine and freezing the wine in the foil bag (i.e. the bag that is in the box). That should help keep it cool for a few days at least. Not sure if you can get rose, but worth exploring?

If all else fails.....Brothers and Cider Bus!!

Rum is always a good bet as you can drink it warm. Or, your usual spirit mixed with juice bought on site rather than coke?

I'm just bringing a bottle of JD then buying cold drinks to take with it. Or JD in a coffee for watching the sunrise at the stone circle

Or you could bring something like tequila or jagermeister. If you're drinking purely to get drunk then a quick shot of this will be perfect. Less fluids means less trips to the loo as well

Morgans Spiced is undefeated by warmth! Still yummy no matter what. What about tia maria? Might get a bit sickly after a bit though...

Id probably go for the whiskey idea though. Straight. No need for ice then

How much red wine do you get through during a day? I like the stuff and its a good idea for temperature but christ I get mortal by it. I'm not known for my slowly slowly approach, you'd be talking over 2 bottles worth per day surely if you're drinking from say 12 till 10 then onto the whisky from there.
