I used to love Dexy's. Used to play them on audio tape (remember that anyone!). I heard a song from them recently though which is a disaster. Really took away the elevated status I had left them in some years ago.

as a 'rocker' back in the day, I wasn't allowed to like Dexys back then.

As it happened, I randomly bought Soul Rebels about ten years ago - and I love it. It's an absolutely superb album. I can't believe I let it pass me by for so long.

Have to say.... I really have to, I've always been baffled the claiims of 'genius'. Saw the first song on 'Later', and was speechless at how odd (awful) they were. The bit where the band stopped and he was left singing.. well, kind of croaking,... I was hiding behind the sofa .... just weird

Always loved the following track. I remember buying it as a single on a family holiday at a Butlins somewhere, I forget which one. I always used to come back from holidays with new music. The Jam's Strange Town. I bought that in a strange town.

NOW we're talking. dexys at glasto would be amazing. saw them at the festival hall in 2004, it was beautiful... "this is what she's like" blew everyone away
