Ha...

okay after JJ's article pissed everyone off I'll be interested to see what you think of these, part two My Chemical Romance week is alternatives to MCR (this isn't slagging them off, this is thinking, who is realistically available, playing in 2011, who's not an exclusive to one of the other big fests)

If Not MCR Then Who: Soundgarden

If Not MCR Then Who: Kanye West

There's the final part coming tomorrow, oddly I thought everyone would jump all over me for picking Kanye and love Soundgarden, so far it's big love for Kanye, and a kind of take it or leave it for Soundgarden (no negative for them though).

I guess it's kind of a noble move to give everyone the chance to voice their opinions through articles and columns, but do you worry it affects the credibility of the site? The ranting and fanboy crap is fine on a forum as the individual takes responsibility for their views, but by letting some put their views in the form of an article it sort of makes it official, gives it credibility and looks like it's had the stamp of approval by the whole site and isn't just some nutcase ranting on. The MCR/Beady Eye/UNKLE article has probably ruined a lot of people's opinions of that site.

Here's our run of features so far:

Why MCR Should Not Headline

Why MCR Should Headline

MCR are bad, but Beady Eye & Unkle Make Matters Worse.

We'll be running an opener letter from two MCR fans to the Reading Audience/MCR haters today, whenever I get done editing it.

Good traffic so far, everyone went nuts with the Why They Shouldn't Headline piece.

A question for DavePortivo.

You market yourself as a "journalist", which, by implication suggests you are a professional.

Without meaning to sound rude and without any motive as to causing detriment or otherwise to you or your site.

I'm curious, what are your credentials?

I think people are being way too harsh and I'd like to see some more articles on good bookings and I'd love to see one on the national or someone new to the festival.

I'm extremely interested in media and journalism, I'm doing media for my A2 so big fan.

It's fine to complain about other people complaining about MCR headline because that's been done ages ago. But I'm saying that people are being harsh about Daveportivo's writing in the article. You often take things over the top on here don't you mate.

I asked what his credentials were, i didn't suggest his writing was poor, in fact i stressed that i didn't mean to suggest his writing was poor.

I think, from my amateur perspective, that he's made some curious decisions with the website he publicises, and i want to know more about his credentials as a journalist as a result.

Fair?

They seem to have enough riffs and hooks to keep a crowd reasonably interested, but he seems to be struggling to project his voice above the music (especially compared to some other acts on that stage) and it isn't going to be any getter on a windy outdoor stage. In fact I think that may have been the problem last time they played.

By "market" i simply referred to how you describe your occupation, perhaps a funny choice of words.

I was just curious, i felt it was strange to allow a "ranter" to be published on your site, even he must realise, as the owner, the damage to reputation that can be done with an artcle like that.

Didn't mean to offend you or anything, i wish you luck with the website and your career.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
